July 1st is the deadline for transfers. Actually I don't know if it's today or kids can still put themselves in the portal tomorrow. But if you're still holding your breath on certain players, by Friday for sure you can guarantee they aren't going anywhere at that point (well I guess they can still flunk out or transfer to a JUCO if they're young enough, but the point is they can't be swooped up by a P5 school after July 1st).

They can still enter the portal up to midnight tomorrow (Thurs., July 1st). After that they can still transfer but have to sit out a year-- doubt many do that. Deadline next year to go in the portal is May 1st, 2022.

He was being sarcastic but what will be funny is if he is correct on all fronts.

Yeah of course, the traditional transfer route is back on the table. But yes at this point, the only players doing that will be the guys who have a falling out with the coach or school for whatever reason.

Rice's 2021-22 roster has 16 names on it - probably the biggest I've ever seen. I'm willing to concede UAB and Louisiana Tech are the conference preseason favorites. After that, Rice and some other schools will be in the mix. We return our six top scorers and seven of the top eight from a year ago, and then add some quality new transfers as well.

Least roster turnover I've seen at RICE in a while. Hope this results in a lot of quality out of conference wins!

Hard to blame Trey Murphy for leaving for UVA though, looks like he’s projected as a late 1st round pick after one season in the ACC.

Peterson started on a USC team that made a run but he had a shady transfer recruitment for a guy that came in saying “I really care about academics and want to graduate from Rice”.

He is a supremely talented player. Will contribute to any team, not just on the floor but also on a team chemistry basis.

He just wasn’t ready to be the go-to guy, which is the expectations we put upon him last season.

I think this should be a breakout year for the conference. Im hoping atleast.

Thanks for posting this. Glad to see almost half of our programs inside the top 150. ODU just missed the but, but in my opinion should be higher. If even half of these transfers work out, we could end the season with a ranked team, and just maybe be a two bid conference.

we should have already been a two bid conference...we have won far to many first round NCAA match ups but i know that OOC optics matter a lot.
I was mostly surprised at how low the first SBC team was. Yes they may be better in football than us but as a conference there is not comparison right now.

Just saw that, that is huge. The starting 5 will be really solid, then with Frampton, McKnght, Sharp, and Miles off the bench. Don't want to get over hyped but there is a bunch of talent there.

I still have UAB and La Tech 1/2 in my personal preseason poll. Perhaps this will put WKU #3 in my viewpoint.
