Here is where it all started for NMSU on it's WAC Tournament Championship runs.
NMSU had some major talent, McDonald's All-American and St. Johns transfer at PG Elijah Ingram, Kansas State transfer Fred Peete at SG, Utah transfer Justin Hawkins at SF, Baylor commit Tyrone Nelson at PF, and JUCO Hatilia Pasos at C. 4 months before NMSU had signed a five-star recruit in Herb Pope. Those were some great times.
NMSU vs Utah State in front of 12,000+ at the Pan American Center in Las Cruces. NMSU hosted the tournament in 2007 and 2008.
The most talented Aggie Team to win the WAC Tournament was the team with Hernst Laroche, Jonathan Gibson, Jahmar Young, Wendell McKine, Hamidu Rahman, Troy Gillenwater, Gordo Castillo, etc.
That team went into Reno and took out #2 seed Nevada on their home court in the semifinals and #1 Utah State in the Championship.

If Jahmar Young didn't get kicked off the team for being stupid and Wendell McKines hadn't been hurt, this team would had made an NCAA Tournament run in 2011.
