Have success in the SBC and the big boys will come calling. Just the new world with the transfer portal.

The word is that GSU coaching staff is extremely livid. South Carolina offered Strachan before he decided to enter portal.

Case in point. I bet it’s going to happen like crazy.

If this is provable South Carolina is going to have new issues with a brand new coaching staff. Considering the spirit of the transfer portal is tilted toward athletes while previous rules about contact with players at other schools remains, I'd hope the book gets thrown at SC, if true.

There is nothing unfair about the transfer rule as it's always been. If you want to transfer without a penalty year transfer down or graduate with a year of eligibility left. Hopefully the NCAA will make the correct decision and leave the penalty year in place.

Fair or not, like it or not, the penalty year is going away.

At this point, it’s just one more tool/bargaining chip for the NCAA to use, trying to be the “good guy”, while behind the scenes they purposefully drag their feet/seek to delay NIL changes.

Imagine taking a chance on no-name recruit with no D1 offers out of high school. Give him all the coaching and tools to succeed. P5 swoops in to poach during his prime as a junior. smh.

G5 is now the minor league, farm system, for the P5.

Imagine that he left for a program that sucks and has sucked badly for years. Mind boggling.

They didn't take a chance on him. He took a chance on them. It says in the article he walked on to the GSU football team.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound edge rusher initially joined the Georgia State program as a walk on during the 2017 season. He ranked as the No. 2,907 overall prospect in the 2017 class, per the 247Sports Composite.

actually he's been on scholarship for awhile long before as a young kid with raw potential. It's not right to say our staff didnt take a chance on him.

you'd have a point if we gave him the scholarship AFTER having the year like he did.

The point is he walked through the doors without a scholarship. They said prove yourself and we will give you a scholarship. There wasn't any risk on their part.

SC is being very aggressive in the portal. They took a CB David Spaulding away from us.

Sure there is always risk. That's one precious scholarship spot we took away from someone else to develop last few years.
