I think that's already there in Alec Pierce. For me, the missing link in the passing game is whether Des can develop a legitimately dangerous deep ball.
I can't remember where I saw it, but somewhere I saw Pierce's vertical jump stats and they were insane. That guy is borderline freak status with his athleticism. I expect big things from him this year.

Might have been from Feldman's article in The Athletic discussing college football freaks:
Quote:The 6-3, 213-pound Pierce broke the program skill position record by deadlifting 675 pounds. He broad jumped 11 feet, vertical jumped 40 inches, ran a 4.45 40 and 4.14 in the shuttle.

That was the article. Those are freak numbers. If he puts a solid season together this year he will be setting himself up for a nice payday.
Quote:14. The biggest two-game segment on any schedule in the country is Cincinnati’s road trips to Indiana on Sept. 18 and Notre Dame on Oct. 2. (The open date in between certainly comes in handy.) Those are exactly the games a non–Power 5 team has to schedule—and win—to have a shot at the playoff. Of course, they also would have to take care of business in the American Athletic Conference while knowing the selection committee is far more likely to punish them for a loss than a member of The P5 Club.
Des Ridder is having a monster year.
In July he went to Manning Passing Academy as a camp counselor, one of only three AAC QBs to attend this year. Last year the Academy was cancelled. He weighs 215 and lives in Fort Thomas, KY near coach Gino Guidugli. His favorite receiver, Alec Pierce, missed the first four games of last year but is healthy. Ridder's arm strength looks like it did back in 2018! WR Michael Young Jr was first team all-AAC last year and has to be excited to play his first team, Notre Dame.
Bearcats have a "Son of Buckeyes Club" this year:
C Landon Fickell snaps the ball to
QB Jacob Hoying son of QB Bob with six years in the NFL.
Who throws a deep pass to WR Drew Donley, whose father Doug played six years for the Cowboys with two pro-bowl years.
Or throws the ball to WR Nate Meyer son of a Buckeye HC.
Of course, Nate's parents are both UC alumni.
Drew Donley's Frisco, TX Liberty HS teammate Evan Stewart is a five star WR class of 2022 ranked #1 in the country at his position and might even be faster than Donley. Drew Donley was committed to Ole Miss before he switched to the Bearcats.
Bearcat TE Chamon Metayer was committed to MiamiFL for 15 months.
Notre Dame coaches Bryan Kelly, OL coach Jeff Quinn, Mike Mickens,
and Marcus Freeman all coached for the Bearcats.
Bearcat OC/TE coach Mike Denbrock has a bigger reason to beat Notre Dame than the above four coaches have to beat the Bearcats.
ND OC Denbrock was fired by Kelly and ND in 2016.
Bearcat DC Mike Tressel coached Bearcat LBs from 2004 thru 2006 under coach Dantonio. Tressel was coaching at Nippert when UC beat undefeated #7 Rutgers and Ray Rice in 2006.

Thanks for posting and thanks for the interview Chad!
We can only hope our own children are that mature and understanding about giving back to the community and the importance of school.

I agree that Pierce fits the bill but we may have another candidate on the way next year:
