RE: MAC Hall of Fame questions
Yes, in fact the MAC was the first to start its own conference Hall of Fame back in 1988. My goodness, pay attention to your own conference, folks...

Marshall has nearly a quarter century of total time in the MAC, and zero inductees. Saw that Wally Szczerbiak was inaugurated in the 2020 MAC HoF class, and he was a contemporary of Pennington, which got me thinking why, among others, the winningest QB in college football history, the most dynamic WR to ever play football, and the big moment Leftwich aren't in the MAC HoF.

RE: MAC Hall of Fame questions
Yes, I do know the MAC has a HoF.
I am surprised zero inductees. I would've told you they had some if I was asked.
It might be a thing where they can't honor the alumni during a game.

The fact that Marshall is no longer in the MAC probably does not help Marshall's cause.
Come on back, and let's see if we can get this fixed.

Chad Pennington is not the winningest QB in college football history and Moss as the most dynamic WR is certainly debatable.

It's not a strictly "Marshall" cause. The HoF honor is an individual's honor. They were MAC athletes who accomplished significant national honors and achievements as a MAC athlete.

Chad Pennington is now #3 on the total wins list, having been since surpassed by Kellen Moore and Colt McCoy. But he did indeed graduate and enter the NFL Draft with the most wins as a starting QB in NCAA history.
I think 'best WR' ever is certainly up for a debate, but in terms of sheer freak athletic ability, there is no debate.

Pro Day workouts:
40 Yard Dash Times
Calvin: 4.35
Moss: 4.24
Vertical Leap
Calvin: 45 in
Moss: 51 in
Moss had more TD's in his one FBS season than Johnson had in his entire three year (with an extra scheduled game each year) college career. And highlight reels clearly disagree.
But I digress... doesn't change that these three belong in a conference hall of fame as much as anyone.

Slight difference between a guy 6’5” and 239 lbs. and another 6’4” 210 lbs. BTW, reports had Moss’ vertical ranging from 39-47”. Megatron was the only player 6’5” or taller, regardless of position, to run a 40-yard dash in under 4.40 seconds at the combine since 2006. That is a freakish athlete.

RE: MAC Hall of Fame questions
splitting hairs on the physical attributes, but Moss was the best college receiver of my lifetime and I'm not a marshall fan. i think toledo's eric page was comparable in production if we talk about great modern MAC receivers (page was on track to break the D1 all time # of catches for a receiver until he left early for NFL and was a spectacular return man as well). Moss also had to overcome a crooked legal system that treated him like a serial killer for defending a friend against racist high school bullies, and just getting to Marshall was an accomplishment. i think his sullen or cocky demeanor as a young man certainly tainted his image, although when you know the history it was understandable.

Chuck Ealey went 35-0. Pennington 35-4. Each had 3 seasons.

Pennington was a 4 year starter, only 3 in the MAC. He finished with 44 wins in 4 years.

Calvin Johnson had to play with Reggie Ball, a terrible passing QB at GT though. Reggie Ball had a career 48.6% completion rate.

Why did this bait work. Marshall had some good players. Also got a lot of home title games. Came to Toledo and got what you deserved. Move along.

half true, but we did not have to guard randy moss in the glass bowl.
i enjoyed marshall as a rival. they were good. they played with attitude. they won bing non-conf games (clemson, louisville, kansas st). they had stars. they made a mark on the MAC, although by the time they left they were just one of the good MAC teams and not winning championships.

It's not a bait. Why aren't these three players legit in the MAC Hall of Fame? They're three of the biggest names to ever play in the league.
