Would love to see a game with Mickey and a guy like Dorian Brooks or Arthur Moats both on color in the booth! Especially if it's a blowout game, would make for some lively and interesting conversation in the last quarter.

That’s been pretty much what has been going on for the past few seasons, and it’s all good. Personally, I think it would be best if the alum angle was focused for the game coverage on radio, but that just me.

I’d just like JMU game-day, ESPN TV coverage to be as professionally polished as possible, and given current options, Riggert is a much more polished voice than Dudley. If Riggert were matched up with the personality of a 70 year old MM (if he’s up for it), heck, that’d be a reason to subscribe to ESPN+ all by itself.

Maybe add Arthur Moats as the TV sideline and locker room reporter?

job as an analyst on ESPN a few years ago. I met up with him after the Coastal vs Richmond game down there in an
FCS playoff game.

Last season we had two maybe three FB games that JMU produced. Bucknell for sure was one. UConn was another and I believe App State was a third game we produced and broadcast on ESPN+. The Mick could certainly make three or four trips to the Valley.

Not sure how much it would pay. Didn't we find out last year the stadium announcer was making something like $50 a game?

Yep, that blew me away. Like the NFL cheerleaders, they get about that same amount. It's not going to pay much, you'd think $500 plus expenses, but that $50 to the stadium announcer makes me believe they want someone to pay us. LoL

Mickey will only need to pay us if he does not fulfill the entire agreement. 03-lmfao

RE: Mickey's back
As others have said Dave Riggert is an employee of the Harrisonburg Radio Group. I love the interviews he does with the players on ESPN Harrisonburg. Not sure what his contract status is with JMU per se.

I get the feeling Curt is offloading some of his announcing responsibilities to Corey Spector who I'm sure they'd like to keep around since he seems to be a rising star.

Curt has "retired" from JMU... but he carries the title "Director of Broadcast Services Emeritus" per JMU Sports, so I take it he is still employed by the University (and not something like Leerfield, etc).

You’re correct on both points, however, neither would preclude Riggert from becoming the TV play-by-play guy.

As for MM, we know he bleeds purple. All JMU need do is ask. 04-cheers

maybe i missed it, is Mickey living in or near harrisonburg now ?

He is neighbors with an old friend of mine and they hang out regularly.

RE: Mickey's back
The Mickey interview was awesome- kind of a short history course of the rise of the JMU football program. It was interesting to hear some backstories - about halftime against App St in 2008 and "unleashing" the pistol in the 2nd half against VT. I think he'd be great doing color.
