The $75 ticket price is cheap as tickets in the club are about $500 a seat!

Everyone pay attention to doss. He pays big money for seats. He’s important!

Glad you finally figured it out!

Jealousy is bad for people!

Having once been poor I know how jealous you are. Work hard and invest and you may someday have a pot.

Doing quite fine, thanks. I just don't need to nouveau riche it all over a message board to feel good about myself. 03-lmfao

All these years and multiple message boards and enquirer comments sections, I thought that this was just his schtick, I never once took him seriously... I assumed it was basically a tongue in cheek character played by someone trolling because they had nothing better to do. After all, I thought .... Noone could seriously bring up their money or sporting event seating preferences/prices every post.

After this comment, I'm starting to think that he's real. Either he's the most boring long-con troll ever (but what's the point?),or this guy is actually serious.

I think this is the place to post this news, but looks like Miami U is furloughing 115 people in their athletic department. I assume that is everyone right?

The Florence Freedom turn a profit with 2,300 fans per game in 2019. That was their 3rd highest attendance ever.

Pittsburgh's USL (minor league soccer) team averaged 1,905 fans per game from 2002-2018. They played in high school stadiums until 2012.

Charlotte's USL team has never averaged more than 1,800 per game since they started in 2015. Their "stadium" is mostly modular bleachers with no luxury seating.

None of those have ticket prices anywhere near what UC football is charging.

The per-game profit for those teams is high enough to cover the fixed costs of running the team, too (salaries, field maintenance, travel, etc). UC is paying those fixed costs whether we sell tickets or not.

Four thoughts:

1. I agree, it does sound as if it's the whole department.
2. Is Miami's President taking a temporary pay cut of some amount? It would at least send a signal that "we're all in this together." Rather hypocritical if he doesn't.
3. About the only excitement in a MAC football season is if they upset a name brand opponent pre-conference. That's out the window now and a November season may well be the equivalent of a tree falling in the forest with no one to hear it.
4. It does beg the question, will Mami football or basketball ever be nationally relevant again? I think not.

I'm honestly shocked the MAC chose to move forward with a season. I guess I'm happy that the kids get a chance to play. And no, I can't ever see Miami being relevant in football or basketball again.

Miami's Pres. is doing the right thing. Companies where I was a VP/CFO we at the top would take a double hit versus the rest of the organization. If we had to cut the rank and file 10% we cut ours 20%. Those cutbacks only happened two times in 25 years as CFO but that is leadership.

I know I give you a lot of ****, doss (lovingly, I assure you), but I just want to say kudos for that. It's commendable. We've done the same with our covid related cuts.

Agreed, the leader sets the pace. I think the article referenced suggested the Miami President was not taking a pay cut, but I may have misread it.

WHO now condemning/discouraging lockdowns by all govt leaders all across the world.

Wow who would of ever guessed the ramifications (Note: They still only looked at it from a public health prospective. Our country has spent trillions and is about to spend trillions more saving businesses/people because they couldn’t work even if they wished too) of the lockdowns would be drastically worse than the virus itself (outside of not overcrowding hospitals at first). Idiots all over this country.

Sweden I applaud you on how you handled this in general.

Pack the Nip!

I was called a sociopath because I suggested exactly what the WHO is recommending now.

Sociopath or rather visionary?

At some point, even the most hypochondriacal, obesessive, mask-wearing, hand-sanitizing, social-distancing elites have to throw their hands up and say: “Enough!”

You got to assume a little risk or you are going to go crazy. We got to work through this.

Need to bring some attendance back to the Nip.

Yep...we passed the point of being able to "contain and supress" when we didnt push a full lock down early in the process, now we just need to advance our treatment practices and accept that this is likely going to be a seasonal illness for awhile. Any additional shut downs are just going to cripple whats left of our economies.

I've been in favor of reopening since about late may, but that does not in any way mean we should recklessly abandon all restrictions and just let it fly. Sweden has had one of the worst responses to the virus and their mortality and infection rates reflect it.

We should take cues from countries that have successfully reopened (of which there are many) and work from there. Instead it seems like we're going to continue back down the rabbit hole we went through in June because people are incapable of understanding the nuance of this spectrum.

To reiterate, being pro-reopening does not mean you should suddenly start downplaying the threat of the virus or precautionary measures or statements. Cases are rising once again and so are hospitalizations. I don't want to see a repeat of the summer.
