But call COVID the Wuhan, or Chinese virus- RACIST! RACIST!

Give me a break. We've been naming diseases by countries or regions for hundreds of years, but when Trump does it, its racist because Orange Man Bad. If a virus originated in America, and the US govt covered it up for a month, eventually causing a worldwide pandemic, does anyone doubt the whole world would be calling it the “American Virus”?

While this virus doesn’t have anything to do with most of the Chinese people, it originated in Wuhan, China. And the Chinese Communist govt covered up, obfuscated, and silenced people for a month. What we are dealing with now is a direct result of actions (or inaction) taken by the Chinese communist govt. The world should be constantly reminded of that.

Is it racist to call a Chinese restaurant a Chinese restaurant? Of course not, that's stupid! We call it a Chinese restaurant because the food we eat there originated in China.

So, why is it racist to call a virus that originated in China a Chinese virus?

But that's exactly what your and the president's labeling of this virus is doing. You know fully well to argue otherwise is bullsh!t.

It seems every point sails completely over your head. The key phrase here is "negatively label," as you yourself posted.

You are right. If we "negatively label" something, there are some who would consider that racist.

However, there is no "negative label" in "Chinese restaurant." It is what it is - a Chinese restaurant. Nothing negative about it. Is Italian food racist? Mexican food? Thai food? Is it racist to call a Toyota a "Japanese car?" They originated in Japan, after all.

Thanks for shooting down your own argument. There is NOTHING racist about calling a virus that originated in China a Chinese virus!

Hburg?

Please close this sandbox down. Enough kiddies throwing clods of sand at each other.

I started it asking about my, and our daughters school plan going forward through this national concern.

It’s turned into something very different and not intended.

Folks can find another venue like the twittersphere cesspool to vent their OUTRAGE!!! over everything

Thanks. D&D

Guys, Dunk is absolutely right. This thread was supposed to be about his daughter's school plan. It turned into something else. Why couldn't we just have kept it about his daughter's school plan? Come on, guys.

We didn’t know what the eff we were facing and this started very shortly after our thanksgiving.

How? “Bat Soup” from some obscure little meat market in Wuhan province. Also conveniently located right down the road from their chemical and bio weapons research and development center.

And he's absolutely right about another thing. This innocent thread was and is no place for outrage. Come on, everyone. It was just about his daughter’s school plan. Please heed Dunk's words.
