@W&M
Last time we played the Tribe, we broke them. It was a fantastic effort that has sent W&M back to earth and on a downward spiral. That is at least the message I would be sending our players this week. This is a chance to try and bury them and keep bring them close towards us and the bottom and position ourselves to avoid that dreaded play-in round.

W&M has now lost 3 in a row and 5 of 7 that started with their beat down to us. Their 6-0 start has been wiped away as they now sit in the cluster of the pack at 8-5, which is good for a tie for 4th with Towson. They are going to want to be righting their ship in a hurry. Last time we faced a team coming off a loss to UNCW we got absolutely embarrassed up in Boston. Let's change that narrative. Elon is coming on strong now as winners of 3 straight and 4 of 5. A win here would help keep the distance with them closing on strong. Can we win an important game on the road? This road trip can't be worse than 1-1 or else we are just about done as far as avoiding the play in round. That is a game I think we actually need to cheer for Delaware to win (in 6 OT's).

As far as the game is concerned, Van Vliet is still a key. Knight is a given for them and will be a handful for Butler, but if we can focus on disrupting Van Vliet I like our chances. He is a shooting 7'er would seems to struggle with any physical play. Get him out of rhythm early. Loewe is another guy we need to watch out for, he is a lockdown defender and we can't let Cam disappear in this game. W&M has been struggling with pressure causing turnovers. We may want to put a little press into this game and see if we can't force some tunovers. To me this game is a coin toss. But with our lack of road wins I have this coming up tails, making Saturday critical.

6 point under dogs this evening. Seems appropriate. I really hope we cover that. I think there is an opportunity to steal a road win tonight. Hopefully W&M is focused on Saturday with all of their festivities going on.

Dan,

How many road wins to the Dragons have in conference this year? I think this is an excellent opportunity(unfortunately) to get one. The Tribe has not even played more than 1 good half since the first game against you guys. Tonight is critical for both teams. I could see W&M winning out if they win tonight. I, also could see them losing 8 in a row if they lose tonight. 8-10 probably means the play in round(Keener) with at least JMU as part of that doubleheader. But, 13-5 might be the 2 seed. I expect W&M to be an underdog at home Saturday and definitely at Towson next week, though.

RE: @W&M
4-28 in the CAA under Spiker. I can't remember which thread I had it in but here is the data:

2016-17 - 0
2017-18 - 1 (W&M)
2018-19 - 2 (CofC, Elon)
2019-20 - 1 (JMU)

So until this year we had improved in each season. But we have yet to defeat a 2 twice on the road in conference, so this would be a great spot to make that happen. I also agree it is a good spot for Drexel

Drexel has lost 11 of their last 12 total on the road, and have just 10 road wins total in the 3.5 years that Spiker has been the coach.

Down 13-5 at the first media timeout. I just tuned in but certainly not the start we needed

RE: @W&M
down 18-13 at the under 12. A better stretch while Knight was on the bench. Need to still attack the basket and use our size even with Knight in the game.

Down 43-34 at half. Got to 3 then gave up a quick run to bring it back up. Have to be able to sustain runs and not give them up

I watched the end after Washington's four-point play with 47 seconds left got you down 70-71, but Knight took over and W&M won 77-72. dan10's prediction of 74-70 was close.

RE: @W&M
It was a better effort than we have seen on the road. But ever time we gt close we gave up a run. It was obvious with Butler fouled out and everything running through Knight that we was getting the ball. With the timeout prior we should have been prepared for that and doubled him at any and all costs. It appeared Walton was ready for the double had TPJ just cut off the baseline, which he did not and led to a return and 1, ending the game. Cam played hard again, we need others to step up and help too. I think this game can help build a little road confidence, but who knows. Tomorrow against Elon is now critical and it now appears our home game against NU will be a must win
