Given the state of nationwide sports attendance, with 20K students on campus, if JMU could get 2-3K for a mens game I would be thrilled. 20-25% of the student body at a basketball game seems like a pipe dream IMHO. Dream big though

Deez, I've seen both fan/student bases. IF JMU were in the top 25 discussion, danced somewhat regularly and had similar entertainment value, similar marketing, played good competition. (need to leave the CAA) I'm very confident we would double the average student attendance VCU gets. The type of student attending JMU is very different that those that attend VCU. People joke about the "art school and hipsters" however there is some truth to that. (How many bong shops does Harrisonburg have?) Regular fans/alum...no just because the number of people living in Richmond vs. Harrisonburg. JMU will never sell out 7000 season tickets and have a waiting list.

I don't know what the issue is, I was at the season ticket-holder meeting and they explained the seating tool very clearly.

Who remembers the hanging blue rubber chicken whenever either the men or women played Delaware at home?

Who remembers the visiting team intros where the Pep Band would chant things that were not necessarily flattering but most of the time not really offensive?

Just like I remember the years folks went to the football games to watch the band, I am sure there are times now that folks come to the basketball games to see what the Pep Band is doing. Not so much so as when they were on a longer leash, but if the administration intends to not allow them to have any fun, it could have a negative impact on attendance, especially MBB.

I am glad I did not renew my WBB tickets yet - why should JMU make a tiny bit of interest on my money over the next five months or so? It won't have any impact on the seat I get so I'll just wait until mid-July to renew.

Hahaha, we used to say awful stuff like "cup check" at WBB games & "don't drop the soap" for the guy with the most tattoos at MBB games. I don't see much harm in that kinda stuff, but I wouldn't say it wasn't offensive!

Well sure if JMU were a top 25 discussion of course students and fans would pack the place. As long as we're more of a bottom 25 discussion we'll keep enjoying the cricket noises while teams are shooting free throws.

One thing is sure to change; the seats behind the (home &) visitors in the Atlantic Union Bank Center are all club section. I assume the corner adjacent to the club will be visitors. Having said that, I don't think the average JMU club section patron is the cheer against the visiting team type (when they show up that is)

We go to ALL of the WBB home games unless we're out of town on business or home sick. There are one HELL of a lot of empty spaces in the season ticket area across the way. Not so many on our side, but more than there should be. Yet you can't get a pair of tickets together in a decent location either side. Stupid. I buy mine General Admission for exactly that reason. Hope the AUBC is better.
