It was a close game...I wouldn’t call it a good game. Both teams hopefully have better days ahead

Last time I checked UCF didn't lose a potential conference player of the year the day before its first game
Meh. You can call it an excuse, but I would take goodknightfl's point a step further and say that our season never really started, in a manner of speaking. I think the majority of the UCF diehards understood from the beginning of the season that this was most likely going to be a rebuilding year. I'm fine with that. I think Johnny Dawkins will get us back on the winning track in another year or two.

I don’t really get the grousing from UCF fans here. We barely won at home and got splattered in Tampa. USF made a really good hire for basketball, and it’s showing. I’m still kind of ambivalent on Dawkins. We’ll see, but I’m still pleased to be 9-1 against USF in AAC play.

Last time I checked usf didn’t lose 4 starters to the NBA/Graduation. We’re a young team without much chemistry. Good win for you guys, both teams should be better next year. Who knows, maybe next year when we play you guys, it could have major conference implications

What was wrong with his congratulatory post? Accurate in terms of post season potential. Moreover, *you* added an excuse to the party. Sorry you lost your potential. We lost some proven guys from last season. But it’s part of the game so I’m not sure why you went there...
Congrats again. Hope Gregory gets his 10,000 UCF bonus too!

Smack free opinion: Dawkins is a quality coach if expectations are properly set.
That is, expect a postseason (NIT/NCAA) type of team every 2-3 years while he re-tools through a lot of transfers and reclamation projects. His team always play hard and seem to play the "right way"...if you excuse the cliche. Honestly, based on UCF's hoops history this would leagues ahead of anything the program has done before.
USF has a similar future b/c of Gregory, but IMO USF has a higher ceiling prospectively, b/c Gregory is a much better high school recruiter which provides better long-term program stability.
Downside with Dawkins is that he is waiting on the 'right' offer to materialize, while Gregory is a high quality coach that wants to build a program for the long run at USF. Well....unless Duke, UNC or Michigan State offer him a job
