Miami made it easy chucking up so many bricks, particularly in the first half. I believe they were 0-24 in one stretch with most of those misses not even close. Terrible ball movement.

RE: MAC HAS A DOMINANT BB TEAM!!!
Still not clear on what happened with BG's Dylan Frye. It was confirmed that it was his choice. Reasons are unclear, just speculation.

Senior, 3 year starter, just claimed the BG all time 3 record, team is leading the MAC and about to play in a packed house against school's arch rival and decides to quit. He is also Justin Turner's roommate.

Dylan split his time at 1 and 2. It appears Fr Davin Zeigler(1,2) will get many of his minutes with the rest split among Caleb Fields(2), Michael Laster(1) and Justin Turner (1,2,3). Zeigler is raw but very athletic and a very active defender.

I really wish people hadn't posted their admittedly unconfirmed info about the nature of Frye's departure. Nothing good comes of that. Whatever happened, he was affected enough by it to quit something he's loved since early childhood. I really feel for him, and I'm glad, as Turner mentioned, that he's got his teammates and coaches on his side, especially if it's a situation where a good support system is really needed.

I also hope he decides to rejoin the team, not for me and other BG fans, but for him. Maybe a little time off is what he needs to get his mental health in a better place. I can't fault him for that.

Outside of trying to do too much in the first 5 minutes of the game and consequently finding himself in foul trouble, I thought Zeigler was fantastic. His athleticism and instincts could make him a star. If Turner returns next year, BG is going to have its best team in a very, very long time. It's a fun time to be a Falcon! (Except football...)

Preston came close to making it back-to-back triple-doubles with 21 pts, 11 reb, 7 assts as Ohio takes down WMU.

he's amazing! i was very surprised that we had only ever had one triple double in all of OUr basketball history. i would have thought Gary Trent would have had a ton of them just by himself!

Saul Phillips left Boals a couple of excellent players - Preston and Vander Plas.

RE: MAC HAS A DOMINANT BB TEAM!!!
I went and viewed the BG forum and they're in meltdown mode. They seem to think their season is over and that they need a new coach. Even without Frye they're still one of the top contenders to win the MAC this year, but they return their entire team next year. Assuming Turner and Plowden don't transfer, I'd have to imagine they will be heavy favorites next season.

Edit: Zeigler should be a good one for them. He just needs some time to develop.

The BG board is as it always has been after a loss. Someone will drag up some long held negative ideas about the program. Hardly a meltdown.

BG loses two high minute non starters (Laster at 1 and Sierra at 5)assuming Turner stays. I agree with you, BG should be good next year.

Losing Frye hurt because he was a shooter that forced teams to respect someone other than Turner. Akron just exposed what BG is now at the 1,2,3 positions, slow Turner down and you can beat BG.

Frye was that 3rd scorer with Turner and Plowden.

As much as Plowden has improved his shooting, he is not generally on the perimeter creating offense so now Turner must shoulder that role alone unless someone else shows up. Plowden will end up with a great highlight reel this year with just his blocks and dunks but he is much more than that with his defense and rebounding. Seeing the improvement he's made each year, I can't wait to see his game next year.
