Only hint thus far is that Marshall will host a game on Nov. 14, which will be the 50th anniversary of the plane crash.
ECU?
We know our OOC schedule... we open week 1 at ECU.
Sept. 5 at ECU
Sept. 12 PITT
Sept. 19 at Ohio
Sept. 26 BOISE STATE
That’s a nice OOC schedule. Two familiar opponents on the road and two attractive opponents at home.
That's a schedule to get a coach fired...after going 1-3 OOC then have to face Tech and Western on the road to open conference play.
I bet Vegas would have odds of Marshall being at best 2-4 after 6 games and Probably 1-5. If Marshall comes out 3-3 after 6 games its a win...in my book
If Marshall come out if that less than 2-4 Doc should be fired. It’s not getting an easier after Rice.

Why should a Marshall team that returns virtually everyone from an 8-win team with an 11th year head coach expect to be 1-3 against that schedule?
Having said that, I am shocked when looking at how this plays out how wide the record range for Marshall is next year. There's a plausible scenario where Marshall could go 0-4 OOC, and if WKU and La Tech hold homefield advantage, then we're 1-6 going to play the Florida twins (who we both defeated this year but they were both close contests). There's not an unforeseeable scenario where Marshall could be sitting at 1-9... Conversely, there's also not an unforeseeable scenario where Marshall plays well OOC (ECU is still rebuilding, Ohio has to find a new answer at QB, Pitt might actually be our easiest OOC game, and you might say we were homefield advantage away from beating Boise this year), and we return everyone from a team that is capable of beating everyone in this league and possibly winning this division.
Maybe I'm just jaded from Doc's tenure, but I think he's gonna Doc again next year and this will be another wasted year. But I can see why someone would pick Marshall to be a conference contender next year. I can see why someone would pick Marshall to absolutely tank. I guess it depends if you see Marshall - basically returning starters at ever position except Center - is going to find itself. If we have a healthy Obialo and the two transfers coming in, we could see some more explosiveness at WR than this year, but we need Green or someone to take QB play to the next level. I have no idea how next year will go for Marshall.

Doc's contract is set to expire after the 2020 season. If Doc doesn't win a title, I think he'll get the Jason Garrett treatment.... He won't be fired, his contract will simply expire and he won't get renewed. I think Herd fans seem to be past ready for a change.

That trip to UTEP is longer than 4 of Western's road games together. Will the UNT coach be on the hot seat with a 1-4 start? Doesnt really get a lot easier after that with 4 out of last 6 on the road

Middle picked up a nice game against Virginia Tech. Hokies are coming to the Boro! We have a home OOC game against FCS Indiana State, and two road OOC games at UConn and Duke.

Oh I know it. From where I live in central Texas, El Paso is almost a 9 hour drive.
A 1-4 start will definitely get the Mean Green faithful grumbling. A sure win with Houston Baptist and a strong probable loss in Aggietown. The SMU and UH games are toss ups and we better win one of them. A loss to SMU at home would leave me in a dark place. For me personally, that is a must-win.
As far as conference play goes, yeah that 4 of 6 on the road will be tough. This has the potential to be a rough year if Littrell doesn't figure something out. Time to earn his money.

After 4 year with the same starting QB this is going to be a hard season to even guess at what UNT can and cannot do. It's about like starting season 1 under Littrel in a total rebuild. Especially with the coaching changes. Instead of going into camp working on plays or gap blocking or things like most of the team would start out at in year 2 or 3 with the same coach..
every player will have to start day one learning the system put in by the new coaches from the beginning. I think it puts development way behind and that might mean a few loses early that might have been wins if played later in the season.
Going to be interesting to see the QB play after 4 years of Mason Fine

Again the Rice game is late in the season so Owl fans can’t combine a trip to Denton with a Texas State Fair day. Rats.

I agree with those expressing dissatisfaction with the Tech-USM game being so early in the season. In this case, VERY early! Some of us would like to see our annual match with the Mustard Buzzards, a term of endearment ;^), be on rivalry weekend or at least late in the year.
Otherwise I think Tech has a good slate. Games at Baylor and Vandy, and we host Marshall and UAB.

I don't know whether you're being sarcastic or whether you're actually disappointed. I personally don't know anyone who has ever been to the State Fair up there, and just assumed it's always mostly just locals and people who are there for football. Give me Oktoberfest in Munich. lol
