Well the "no substance" USF Coach Willie Taggart is 2-2 against UCiF.
I always find the "UCiF" moniker very amusing. It's like USF fans have no introspection skills. UCF has won division titles, conference championships, major bowls, gone undefeated, and earned a national championship claim (hey it's in the record books). USF hasn't done any of that. Your fanbase now uses the word "if" as much as UCF fans ever did. You guys should retire the moniker. UCF has actually accomplished great things.
I think all UCF fans are hoping that you guys hire Taggart back. It'll be like Strong 2.0.

I can't think of any coaches other than maybe Lane Kiffin who ascended the head coaching ranks so quickly with almost no track record of success to justify it. Two 7-5 seasons at Western Kentucky and he ends up at USF. Rides the coattails of Quenton Flowers to a 10-win season after going 14-23 his first 3 seasons and lands a highly coveted job at Oregon. Dips out after one 7-5 season there and ends up with another highly coveted job. Unreal.
But by all means if USF's admin and fans think Taggart is the answer, I wish you luck. I'd love to be wrong, as a strong USF football program is good for the league.

The best phrase I've heard to describe Taggart is that "he's always able to fall upwards.". It's shocking really.

But that is exactly the attraction, USF gets a coach on the cheap, just like they got Strong. It's let the previous contract pay him.

If you look at his history at WKU, USF and Oregon... he actually improved each year and his recruiting classes were beasts. Again, Id rather go in a different direction, but to say he couldnt coach isnt supported by the numbers.
He did make a massive mistake by giving a friend a chance at DC. Raymond Woodie wasnt ready to be DC. He was ok as a position coach, but once promoted to DC, our defense took a nose dive.
Did you see what he did at Florida St? He's a national laughing stock to most college football fans. Great recruiting classes don't always equal wins. Look at teams like Miami for an example
Shirt sighted fools only look at a 20 month snippet of a persons career... FSU was a total trainwreck when he got there. No coach could have turned it into a winner in a year. Urban freaking Meyer couldnt have pulled it off.
With that said, look at this other three coaching stops.... tells an entirely different story. If he had stayed at USF, which he is now saying he wish he did, because he screwed up the happiest time of his life... he would have Taken Flowers and crew to the Access bowl.
Strong had a perfect setup to win and blew it. He didnt know how to run teh Gulf Coast offense and messed up USFs best chance ever. but thats a what if...
This is a fever dream and completely detached from reality.

A ton?
In his only recruiting class at Oregon, 9 of the 25 signees were already committed to Oregon BEFORE he was even hired while many of the other 16 were already targeted by the Asst Coaches (not yet committed). Bottom line, Taggart's fingerprints are barely on that program considering his 11 month stint was so short.
Oh...you must haven't watched much college football this season as Oregon is not getting into the CFP.

And every indication is they will take the cheap route, welcome back Willie for at least as long as FSU is paying your salary.

IT isnt anywhere near a done deal. One of the Clemson OCs is being interviewed and there are 2 other candidates being spoken with.
I also wouldn't be surprised if our AD talks with a few that arent even being discussed. Theres normally LOTS of leaks in the process but hes keeping it close to the vest.

I am not sure where you get that. Taggart's agent is Jimmy Sexton. This little PR campaign has his fingerprints all over it. Not saying Rivals knows more but they are saying Taggart is a no.
Sounds like a good plan. Sign him to an even bigger buyout so he never leaves again.
30 mil buyout on a 30 year deal that decreases every decade.
30 mil buyout for 2020-2029
20 mil buyout for 2030-2039
10 mil buyout for 2040-2049
Build his statue at Ray Jay or right next to the running Bull.
Taggart doesn't even need the IPF, scrap it and pocket the money for something else. Strong was a wimp who needed all these facilities, he was like the gold-digger girlfriend that spends all your money on "improvements". Taggart can do it the right way without any facility investments that are sucking the program dry. Football is meant to be played in the elements, if it rains Taggart will make them work in the rain and grind it out. Florida programs are better because they are used to playing in the hummidity, extreme heat, and heavy rains. Taggart will build blue collar gladiators in the elements. Taggart knows how to excite the fan base, the pirate ship will be rocking with Taggart at the helm.

Thats right, remember all his blue collar hype when getting on the bus and wearing a shirt with his name on it and all that? Wow, now has has a chance to really implement that. They can go back to having trailers like in the Leavitt era. I say go for it
