TOLEDO / NIU
First time, I can remember thinking about not losing in an embarrassing manner, as opposed to being in a position to take care of our business, and trying to win the MAC..reaching on out to you" older folks"..for a remberamce where an NIU / Toledo game meant nothing ( for us) ??

If only Rod Carey were back, NIU would be duking it out with Boise State for the big bowl berth, darn it.

Going back to my days Toledo had there way with NIU for the most part. NIU won in '85. History favors Toledo and Toledo holds 31 -15 edge and has won 2 of the last 3.

TOLEDO / NIU
I think this should be settled once and for all. Let’s buy out Carey’s Temple contract and bring him back to DeKalb. No doubt we’ll win the next 3 games and go to some minor bowl in Lima, Ohio. The players will be pissed because there is no beach, Carey will defend them for being pissed, and they’ll get blown out and embarrassed in the game. Or, they will get a bowl game in a nice warm climate, spend too much time on the beach and admiring their bowl bling, and they’ll get blown out and embarrassed in the game. It won’t be Carey’s fault, so he’ll be justified in throwing the whole team under the bus.

Instead NIU is playing meaningless games in November and duking it out with Akron for worst college football team in the country. Way better.

Oh wait never mind, whenever NIU played Boise St under Carey, NIU's total yards tally was probably not as large as Boise St's points.

RE: TOLEDO / NIU
Have faith! On campus this week, they had another walk-on try out. I hear they found 3 stud offensive linemen, and, 6 stud linebackers (we'll need 6 as the first 3 will get injured quickly). So with a day or 2 of practice, we should be good to go to take on Toledo Central High School.

Oh wait...we're playing Univ of Toledo? with this team?? oh man, we're screwed.

I just don't see us winning more this year, but I'm resigned to see everyone game as an excellent training opportunity for whoever we can dress this week, and, with the new coaching staff(who need the practice too).

Next year. Wait 'til next year.

Aside from our FCS opponent our five wins have come by 6 @CSU, 7 vs. BYU, 7 vs. WMU, 3 vs. EMU (OT), and 2 vs. Kent. We are going for the home sweep... but we won't blow you out.

Nothing? - NIU wins out and they'll be bowling.
And there are several ways that they can reach the MAC championship game but you would need alot of help and a multiple tie situation. The Ohio U win was much bigger than what people thought at the time.

Sure, anything is theoretically possible. It's also possible that the Huskies will show interest in a bowl game and actually win the damn thing. But will it happen? I think we all know the answer.

TOLEDO / NIU
Saw a bunch for Toledo Kent st on Tuesday and the rockets just ran thru Kent St. I was impressed with the holes the line made with pulling lineman. Toledo rb starter got hurt and backups came in and wouldn't get touched until 7 yards down field.

Made me reminisce about previous huskie olines.

Unless niu stops their line this game will be a blowout.

Don't see NIU beating Toledo this year. If we lose to them, the last two games are really meaningless and the team will be less fired up than they have been.
