RE: Temple men’s bb 2019-2020
Great win in new McKie era as Temple beats 57th ranked USC on USC’s home court by 9-points, 70-61. Temple now enjoys a 4-0 record compared to USC’s 5-1 record.
Temple’s pressure defense was for real against a very good offensive team. As Temple had 8 steals and forced 13 USC turnovers, that helped USC scored 19 fewer points that it hade been averaging. As USC had been averaging 80 ppg prior to tonight’s game.
Temple held USC to shooting only 43 percent on two’s, and 27 percent on three’s. Temple also shot 43 percent on two’s, and shot 30 percent on three’s (10-30).
Temple committed only 6-turnovers compared to USC’s 13-turnovers. Temple scored 21-points off of USC’s turnovers, while USC scored just 8-points off of Temple turnovers. Temple scored 13-points off fast-breaks, while USC scored but 8-points off fast-breaks.
Temple managed to have three more offensive rebounds and one more defensive rebound than USC. Hamilton led Temple with 3-offensive rebounds, Moorman had 2.
Although In expected that Temple would commit more fouls than USC did, Temple was only outscored by three points at the foul-line, as Temple shot 8-12 at the foul-line, or 66.7 percent, compared to USC shooting only 11-20 from the foul-line, or 55 percent. Arashma Parks fouled out of the game after playing but 9 minutes.
Temple was led by freshman Josh Pierre-Louise who scored 15-points, 5-11, 2-6, 2-2, followed by Dre Perry scoring 12-points, 5-8, 2-4, and Q. Rose 12-points on 4-11, 2-5, 2-3, and Justyn Hamilton scored 10-points, 4-11,1-1, 1-4, and had 7-rebounds. Nate had 7-points (3-11,1-5, 0-1, led Temple with 10 rebounds. Alani Moore playing 27-minutes scored 8-points 2-7,2-5, 2-2, and had 2-steals, no turnovers, 5 rebounds.
Scott played but 16 minutes, scored 2-points, shooting 1-3 from the field, 0-2 on three’s. He’s shooting only once every 8 minutes which inhibits him from getting in a rhythm and.
Temple made ten three’s compared to USC’s six three’s just like they needed to do. Temple shot 33-percent on three’s.
Temple next faces 15th nationally ranked Maryland in Orlando, Florida on Thanksgiving Day at 11 am.
