RE: Week 1 Power Rankings
1. Marshall - 600+ yards on offense. allowed 257 on defense. No surprises here. Did what they were supposed to do.
2. North Texas - 575 yards on offense, but gave up 456 yards on defense. That's a little worrisome.
3. USM - 389 yards on offense. allowed 219 on defense. Defense looks really strong. That was a good QB and that was good practice. The 96 yards rushing we had mostly came late in the game. Our revamped OLine did NOT blow them off the ball, however, Abraham did have time to throw the ball and pick apart their secondary.
4. UTSA - Hello Mr. Frank Harris! UTSA showed a legit offense for the first time in 2 years at least. Baylor and Army will have their hands full. Intrigued!
5. Charlotte - showed a balanced offense and efficient passing game. Let's see if carry over versus Appa State.
6. UAB - Defense shutdown Alabama State, but offense looked bad. 8/19, 114, 1 for Johnston is unimpressive to say the least.
7. ODU - More good defense and bad offense. Smartt's numbers look good. How did he look overall?
8. UTEP - 2-point win over FCS team. Rushing defense numbers look ok. Is Hughes worth building around?
9. Rice - you were supposed to be blown out by Army. You stopped their running attack pretty well, but ultimately lost 14-7. Moral victories suck.
10. Middle Tennessee - expected much worse blowout. Seems you kept it respectable. Who is Asher O'Hara and what kind of idiot Gone With The Wind fan names their fricking kid this??
11. FAU - 28-0 at the end of the first quarter, then you basically got to practice versus their second string. Robison's stats don't look that bad. You'll build around him.
12. La Tech - you were never in the game. Your points came in garbage time. Did JMar complete most of his passes then, because 34/51 doesn't look that bad?
13. WKU - lost to FCS school. 404 yards passing given up. I expect WKU to improve, but FIU will take advantage of this weakness this next weekend.
14. FIU - totally crapped the bed. Lost game at line of scrimmage. Tulane ran over and thru you. I said before the weekend that you should give up football if you lost to Tulane. Apparently, this is one of those flukey good Tulane squads that come around once every 20 years. Don't shutter the program just yet, but find a DLine quick.

Also to add: UTSA held this "vaunted" Air Raid offense from UIW to 209 total yards (181 pass/ 28 rushing)

For what it’s worth: UNT was up 41-10 with 10:47 left in the 3rd quarter. If you trust Bill Connelly (seen as the advanced stats guru of CFB) that would be the beginning of garbage time (A 30 point or greater lead in the 3rd quarter). Most of ACU’s stats came after that. Before they only had a couple hundred yards.

Yeah, well Marshall was up 42-10 at the same point and the same situation played out. So it nothing else it's fair to say our depth is better.

Thank you. That means your defense can't afford any injuries. You need to be grooming Fine's successor/backup.

RE: Week 1 Power Rankings
Not going to rank anyone but WKU deserves to be dead last no matter what. They have lost 2 in a row to IAA teams. Also WKUs offence and defense went MIA at the 9 min mark of the 3rd quarter.

WKU isn't the only one that should have lost to a IAA, if we are being honest UAB, ODU and UTEP could and probably should be 0-1. They all managed to somehow squeak by a IAA barely. They had 5, 3 and 2 point wins and its not like any of them are ranked IAAs and expected to do big things at their level.

Let me correct you on something here. OSU's first unit offense was on the field the entire game until the last series and OSU's first unit defense skipped only two (three?) series. FAU adjusted on both sides of the ball after first quarter. That's why we actually outscored OSU from second quarter on.

RE: Week 1 Power Rankings
Did people expect UNT fans to put any other team above UNT when every team that won in this conference played an FCS school?

Are we going to argue over which FCS school is better than the next, lol?
Put them in whatever order you like.
Marshall fans feel big after a win over VMI - put their team first.
SoMiss feels engorged after a win over Alcon State - put your team first.
Silly.

RE: Week 1 Power Rankings
I'm not going to rank all the teams, but you have to put UTEP, MTSU and ODU at the bottom. At least MTSU played a solid Southland team so even though they lost, my guess is they will be the best team of those three. Flip a coin between UTEP and ODU for last - both of them barely escaped with home wins over really, really bad FCS teams. HBU had 1 win last year and has lost 11 straight games - that was easily their closest effort to a win among their losing streak. Norfolk State hasn't won more than 4 games in a season the past 7 seasons I believe?

Rice has a chance to move up the rankings with Wake Forest at home next week, but they will likely be blown otu the following two weeks against Texas and Baylor.

Omg. OSU scored 21 points in the first 5 minutes of game time. They could have beaten you 150-7. FAU is pathetic, won't do anything in conference. Hard to be good and be pumped when you play in front of 217 fans every week.

This is Asher and he almost beat FIU last year after Brent went out early in that game. He's a dual threat QB with some moxy and wiggle. Unquestionably the most athletic QB we've had since Dasher.
