It's going to be hard to catch up with Wittenberg and Mount Union.

And Alabama and Notre Dame, too. What's nice though is that CMU is on the list, unlike 10 other MAC schools, including Toledo and Western Michigan.
As for chasing other schools on the list, let's see if the Chippewas can overtake Miami and Army West Point this season.
FIRE UP CHIPS! :)

Criteria are ridiculous. Any ranking of college FB's greatest teams that would put teams like Linfield, CMU,etc ahead of Wisconsin aren't valid. Certainly a great team should have great Bowl record, right?
CMU's is atrocious.

The metrics used for the calculation are in the article. CMU actually suffers several penalties in its overall score stemming from our time in D2. You can take issue with what teams are on the list if you like, but ESPN selected the criteria and stuck with it.
By and large I think you’re missing the point, Boca. Obviously, Wisconsin is better than Linfield, CMU, Toledo, or any MAC school - that’s patently obvious. The list is ranking programs based on how successful/prolific they have been over the past 150 years. It’s a legit calculation. The best way to look at it like this: Linfield is ranked higher than Wisconsin because they have enjoyed more relative success.
Now if they would have given points for something other than football...say how high the schools admissions rate was, then Toledo would have definitely made the list. Toledo’s is atrocious. Nearly 95%. Basically open admissions. Higher even than west michigan community college (wmu).

And amazingly CMU's and Toledo's freshmen class have an average .3.36 GPA and 23 ACT scores. Take it from a guy who transferred from Vanderbilt to UT because of my mom becoming seriously ill, UT's top students can compete at any University.
