I'm happy for ODU and glad to have you all in this conference.

Biggest question is will Wilder be around long enough to see if he can use this as a recruiting advantage? My guess is Wilder will be gone after this season.

I think the reason it looks bigger is because we don't have a closed off north end zone, and the south end zone is suites. So the sidelines make up the vast majority of seats.

The coaching is a serious question, and I have to wonder what the overall win total has to be for him to be fired next season. He did start the program from scratch and is a big reason why we are currently FBS so I think he has a longer leash than your typical coach. A lot of us on the boards want him gone if he doesn't get us a bowl game, which to me is inevitable (not bowling). I predicted 3 wins, and I think he should be gone if that's the case. If he gets up to 4 or 5 he may have another season due to that long leash. We'll see. I'm rooting for him, but I think he's over his head in FBS imo.

Brother, imho, he got you this far, but it’s going to take someone else with new fire to get ODU over that hump. Good luck to you guys!

My prediction -- Bobby Wilder will resume the success he had early on and will be at ODU for a long, long time.

ODU'S NEW STADIUM - COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF
Consider this article from yesterday's report.

Essentially, ODU has invested in the facility and will do if possible to invest in performance on the field! If we don't go bowling in 2019, Wilder is gone and Selig will probably joined him. ODU has made it clear, it wants to be relevant.

Would be crazy if we beat VT again though... [Image: 48d6cb795c2aad59db91d3e8376dd3d1.jpg]

I hope he can do it! He seems like a great guy. We have been at the FBS for going on 5 seasons and haven't made any real noise yet. We haven't beaten any good teams yet. We beat all the cupcakes in 2016 and got wrecked by the good teams. We beat a garbage VT team at our house in 2018. I'll give credit for the North Texas win as that was really epic! I don't count the rest as success. I think Wilder was a coach to start a program from scratch and being to the FBS. His job is done and we need to hire a coach with FBS experience. Heck, bring in Larry Fedora or Bo Pelini....
The fans will donate for names like that and that actually make our program prosper - I know I would!

Sounds like whoever this is has never been to the old stadium.

From my desk. Track on a post card from Nesson Candy Company Norfolk, Va. Not sure date but its old.

Looks like the light rail tracks are still there, so it is really dated.
That's a neat post card. I had never heard of Nesson Candy before. I'm going to do some shopping! I dig stuff like that.

My guess is that postcard dates to 1936. Certainly not to 2009 when football was restarted. And since 2009, there has never been a track around the field. This from a local reporter? There's no excuse, either sloppy reporting or an honest mistake.

What do you think that paved walk between the bleachers and field used to be? The track may not have been there for the last however many years, but the space for it was -- and still in use as a walking area. With that space now gone, the stands are much closer to the field.

I agree, but the reporting makes it sound like the track was removed during the stadium rebuild.

ODU's New Stadium - Kornblau Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium
What SB Ballard has done in 9 months is Amazing!

Today 8/19/2019 "Are We ready for some FOOTBALL"

My 80 year old Uncle. A Great ODU Fan. He is standing in front of (field level view), the home stands.

The new and much larger Video board

The very end of the new ribbon video system (PLEASE), that runs around 3 sides of the stadium. Home side, visitors side & gameday building.
I LOVE the raised stadium *home & visitors sides. It is about 4-5 feet above the field, and allows for GREAT sightlines.

A picture that depicts an exterior view, which is next to the Gameday Building and beside the parking garage. This is a great tailgate lot

I know we fans will have to be patient, but after seeing what they have done and how nice it is. It makes me even more excited to see Phase II started. Wow, this and the future look bright for ODU. When they complete Phase II, with all the bells and whistles. Well, that will bring a new and exciting resurgent's in the football program. Now, is all we have to do is get back to our winning ways.

Wanted to mention that the new ramp systems for accessibility for Handicap / Wheelchair challenged fans is great. I understand there are at least 2 elevators. We saw the one on the home side. Thank God for the new advantages. This will help a lot. The Restrooms are large and also very accessible. The Old Stadium the restrooms were so restrictive to wheelchairs that I had to get lots of help from other fans. They always extended themselves graciously. But I am so happy to say I can do this on my own now. Really excited for the season to start.
