Realignment/Possible Liberty Future
LU men's soccer is now a member of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC).

Realignment/Possible Liberty Future
Today begins the CUSA journey for LU. Now I believe the sports are as follows.
CUSA - most sports.
Big East - Field Hockey.
ASUN - W Lacrosse.
OVC - M Soccer.
Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association - Swimming / Diving.
I hope in the near future that LU can consolidate the number of conferences of which they participate. The Big East could theoretically take in all of those random sports. Basically CUSA for most sports and the Big East for the other four sports.

Why do we care about LU? I went there but have 2 degrees from ODU, and I don't care about them. I hope all of their athletic endeavors end in failure. They are direct competitors with ODU, and they have monopoly money due to their 90,000 online students and their marginal degrees.

Uh, thanks for sharing. I guess.
I am not sure why you would consider Liberty to be a direct competitor. The schools have never been in the same league and attract different students.
Back on the realignment front, the news that San Diego State is staying in the MWC (for now) kicks the can down the road a bit further for the Pac-12 to decide what their future might be.
The good news for LU is that we now have a leader with legitimate academic credentials and membership in an actual FBS conference. Both were necessary steps for us in our growth toward our larger athletic goals. The longer it tales for the dominoes to start falling, the better for us.

I think LU recruits kids in the area that ODU would also recruit, so they are competitors.

Your bitterness about Liberty’s success and OD’s lack of is understandable. Hopefully as a double OD grad you can understand the answer to your question. The reason people care about LU on this thread is because it’s a Liberty Flames Thread.

RE: Realignment/Possible Liberty Future
To bring things back around, I'm happy about where we are currently. If Judy messes things up by grabbing any & every FCS school that looks at her, then that's a whole other discussion. For now, we've got a solid conference for Olympic sports, & if everyone else not named Liberty or WKU can get their crap together, then football will even out as well.

One possible option for Washington State and Oregon State is to rebuild the PAC. I would imagine WMC schools would make up a larger part of the rebuild. If there are just a few remaining WMC schools, I would like to see Jeep Judy try to bring in the remnants of that conference. I could see those remaining schools try to get into the AAC. It would make for a nice East/West division conference.

We don't know if some AAC would try to talk with WSU/OSU to get in if they maintain their power autonomy. It's everyone for themselves now. I wouldn't be shocked if Memphis try to make an effort especially with their hopes of joining the Big XII is more of a dream now. Same thing with USF. Not as farfetch these days where geography is not as important in this realignment.

Good things are coming for Liberty as long as we compete with excellence and keep our eyes focused on Jesus.

RE: Realignment/Possible Liberty Future
Liberty will be a member of the ACC by 2038. That seems like a long time, but some of us will see it to fruition. It will be in the mega-conference era, as the power conferences upload to 24 teams each. There will be two super conferences, the SEC and BIG10. There will be two power conferences, the ACC and Big 12.
ACC
{North}…………..{East}…………{South}……….{West}

Boston College…Liberty…………Georgia St……Rice
UConn………………JMU……………..UCF………………Colorado St.
Temple……………..N.C. State……USF……………..Air Force
Pitt……………………Wake Forest…Tulane…………Army
Cincinnati………..ECU………………Memphis……..Navy
ACC teams gone to super conferences: Florida St., Miami, Clemson, Ga. Tech, North Carolina, Duke,
Virginia, Va. Tech, Notre Dame.

I like your optimism, however I rather LU be in the BIG whatever the number will be a.k.a BIG XII. I understand the ACC makes sense geographically, but I don't appreciate pointy nosed schools that's apart of the conference. Anyways, I'm mostly optimistic about the master plan 2.0 that I've thought about for awhile.

The Big XII will look drastically different by the time Liberty moves into the ACC as well. Not sure Liberty will want a part of it. And there is zero shot at getting the BIG10.

Not that it matters, but I have a lot of respect for Liberty. Not necessarily for Falwell Jr, but the university as a whole. Old Dominion and U. Virginia grad, but my tie to LU is that I officiate many college tennis matches there. Top notch facilities and REALLY considerate and helpful people. Two thumbs up from this Virginia Beach resident. Oh, and Old Dominion is better than LU in tennis at least... much better! Good luck Flames. I wish you were in the Sun Belt.

Thanks for the kind words. Be careful though, some of those Sun Belt posters will tar and feather you for even putting the words Liberty and Sun Belt in the same sentence. Lol.
