It's fascinating how hard the Sentinel makes it to follow this. So their website shows both Ole Miss at 43 and NC State at 41, with no link to #42. Meanwhile, their actual countdown link only shows Arizona State at #44. So for now, #42 is a guess. It's not likely to be any of the remaining AAC schools, since it's not linked to their Central Florida coverage. It's also unlikely to be an SEC or ACC school, since it doesn't show up linked to their Florida or Florida State coverage (like 41 and 43 are). So that would suggest a B1G, Pac-12, Big 12 school, Boise State or Notre Dame. My best bets would be Oklahoma State, Minnesota or Washington State.

I get the love for Alabama (and Georgia) - both have earned it. But 11/14 of the conference is among the top 40 teams in the country?!? Sorry, but I don't see how you can look at South Carolina or Mizzou and somehow come to the conclusion that they're in that top 40. I'm not even 100% convinced the Cocks get bowl eligible, and unless Mizzou wins their appeal, they don't even have anything to play for.

Most of these schools are fairly close to Orlando and the main goal is to sell papers.

It’s not completely over the top. Memphis played in our CCG and Mazzo beat the snot out of them. Most of them are in the top 40 because they recruit well and can hang with most of the teams in college football.
