ND's 2020 football recruiting class is looking very good.

It includes two five stars on offense, Virginia RB Chris Tyree rated the #1 RB in the country and Missouri's Jordan Jefferson rated as the #4 WR in the country.

24/7 sports rates ND as having the #8 ranked class in the country.

In contrast, ND basketball 2020 recruiting sucks hind teat at #41 in the country.

It has two commitments, both three stars.

RE: RECRUITING THREAD 2019-2020 Football/Basketball
FSU just got a verbal commitment from 2020 5 star wing player Scottie Barnes. They now have 4 players in this class. The scouting report on Barnes is that he is a great defender, good ball skills and good court vision. Rumor has it that Barnes wants to play PG in the NBA, so Hamilton is giving him a shot at FSU.

FSUs 2020 class is shaping up to be a lot like the 2015 class with Bacon, Beasley and Mann. All 3 are playing in the NBA.

RE: RECRUITING THREAD 2019-2020 Football/Basketball
ND just got 2021 commitments from two 4 star wide receivers, Deon Colzie and Lorenzo Styles, Jr. this weekend after the Southern Cal game.

Its way, way early yet, but ND is off to a very good start in that recruiting cycle.

"Despite having less commits than previously top ranked Texas (8) and Miami (12), Notre Dame, with its seven commits, now ranks as the top class nationally in 2021.

All seven of Notre Dame's commitments rank as Rivals' four-star prospects, and better yet, all of them are ranked as top 200 prospects nationally.

In addition to Colzie and Styles, the Irish have commitments from offensive lineman Blake Fisher (No. 17 prospect nationally), quarterback Tyler Buchner (No. 65), defensive tackle Gabriel Rubio (No. 86), offensive lineman Greg Crippen (No. 118), and tight end Cane Berrong (No. 178).

Notre Dame's 2020 class isn't too shabby either. The Irish have 17 commitments and the No. 15 class nationally per Rivals.

Notre Dame has a star ranking of 3.59 in the 2020 class and 4.0 in the 2021 class."

Despite already being technically over the limit, made worse by two seniors taking medical redshirts, word is Collins still has a few gems in the bag. I think Collins is going to tap out the scholarship signing limit Saban style at 25. I don't think Paul Johnson ever signed more than 18-20 in a class. There's more bleed out from PJ's players yet to come this offseason. There's going to be at least 2, maybe as many as 7 players who won't have a scholarship at GT next season who do have one this season.

Collins' greatest win this year will be keeping this recruiting class together through a 1-11 season.

As for next year I wouldn't be surprised if the entire O-line is Collins' players.

RE: RECRUITING THREAD 2019-2020 Football/Basketball
I have now come to be a believer in “year 0” of a new coaching regime. GC May have had more time than WT, but there is a definite transitive period when going from PJs offense (with smaller linemen and option type QBs) to whatever GC is trying to install. He just does not have much building material to work with.

In WT’s case, Jimbo quit recruiting for FSU near the beginning of the 2017 season and allowed the program to spiral out of control. 2018 was WT’s year 0. He had a late start, had to cobble together a coaching staff and recruiting class...and the results showed.

I read that he was the No.22 overall recruit. Still a good get.

This is like the third preferred walk-on. Collins may "sign" like 30 players this way.

4* TE from TX entering the transfer portal from Michigan. Word is GT is in his Top 5. If it's playing time he wants you're not going to get a better shot of that at TE in the P5 than Georgia Tech.

It's nice to have real recruiting again in Atlanta.

To be fair to FSU, any decent OL is going to get playing time in Tallahassee...

Louisville flips a local standout from UK to UofL. It’s nice getting our best local players to stay home again.

https://www.cardchronicle.com/2019/10/29...an-watkins

So far in his senior season, the speedy Watkins has caught 34 passes for 679 yards and seven touchdowns, and has rushed 24 times for 309 yards and three more scores. Rivals rates him as the No. 13 “athlete” in the class of 2020 and the No. 6 overall player in the state of Kentucky.

Word is a major OL commit for GT is coming tomorrow. May be a bit of a commit run coming again for GT. They're for sure holding space for DTs, and I think every commit at this point means somebody with a scholarship this year won't have it next year.

Seton Hall being investigated for transfer tampering. This should interest both FSU and SU fans. Both schools had players transfer under dubious circumstances. For FSU, it was Ike Obiagu at the end of the 2017-18 season in which FSU had an Elite 8 run. Those who were close to the program had said that Ike was sad about transferring and rumors had it that his handler ordered the transfer. Sucks for him because he would have been the starter for FSU this year and FSU assistant Stan Jones does a great job developing big men.
