RE: Virginia Tech at JMU Thursday in WNIT:
Not sure about Furman, but putting up 82 points on VCU is impressive. It is important to note that VT shot 8-14 from 3pt and made 28 or 38 FTs (there were a total of 45 fouls called in the game!). VCU had the #5 scoring defense (points per game) and gave up about 30 points over their season average. Also, VT had almost double the rebounds VCU did (31-16), and I doubt that will be a problem with Kayla and Devin in the paint. It'll be a challenge, but we are a very good defensive team and have won low scoring slugfests all year.

There was nobody at the ticket counter and I had to walk around and find a person so I would guess they did not have a rush. I also spoke to another alumni who got her tickets earlier this week and she said she was told demand has not been high so far. Really hoping a good crowd shows up for this game. I imagine VT will get a few fans there although if they only had 600 at their NIT home game last week I am not sure how many they will bring to Hburg. Hoping at least the bottom bowl is full and loud.

In other news, VT has been scoring a lot of points (92/82) so far in their NIT games. JMU, albeit without key players, has been pretty low scoring (48/71). Hopefully we can keep up, or slow down, their scoring tomorrow. I can't find season stats for them but it appears they are pretty good on the boards.

I guess you and the other alumni were there after the party. There are 9 reserved seats left to purchase. NINE. No doubt general admission is selling well too, but obviously that we can't see progress for online.

Folks this isn't "regular season tickets" where a dark seat means XYZ corporation bought a package and maybe they send someone to the game. This is "I AM COMING" purchased event tickets. Don't plan on putting your jacket in the empty seat beside you unless you're sitting in the nose bleeds.

Trying to get up there tomorrow and watch the game with my DukeDaughter. How does it work for students? I am asking you b/c my daughter is in class and will not answer her phone or text. Just going to grab her one too I guess.

Students get in free with their ID. It is a GA ticket though.

Thanks for the info. Looks like GA is all that is left anyway.

That is great news...almost shocking. I checked online just to confirm, not that I didn't believe you, and you are correct there are currently 0 seats available for purchase online. I called over to the ticket office and they said they have individual reserved seats but no 2 seats together. That is great news! I think they switched a lot of the lower bowl to GA this season but still, it sounds like there will be a healthy crowd at least!

Kenny by far

Yup.....it would be a black-eye for Kenny if he got beat by the mid-major he left for a P5 program 3 years ago. It is almost a must win for Kenny.......If Sean/JMU lose, well they were suppose to lose they were playing a P5-ACC school.

Actually the point spread is even - so the game is a toss up for the book makers.

That would suggest something like Tech is 3 points better, but we get 3 points due to home court advantage.

Student tickets are free with JAC. Just show - no reservation necessary. General seating and Student seating is the same thing, so get in early to get the best seats. 107 used to be reserved but they switched it in 2016.

As much as it breaks my heart, I have a meeting in Hampton starting in the morning that I cannot miss. I was hoping the game would be tonight so I could make it and then just get up at dark o'clock to go across the mountain, but no luck. There will be three other serious JMU WBB fans with me and a couple of Tech fans, so I am taking my laptop so we can watch the game online. I am excited that the ticket sales are going well.....I hope to barely be able to hear the announcer over the cheering tomorrow night. I know I say this often, but the home crowd makes such a difference and the team appreciates it so much. Now.....I do hope there will be a larger Pep Band there than what we had Sunday night. They were fabulous - especially when they came to the rail and played loudly right into the USF huddle - but we need more and louder support from them.

To all of you going tomorrow night - I am jealous!!!!! Bring home a win so we can continue the adventure!!

Hmm ... wouldn’t it be interesting if we exceeded seating capacity? If the students got really amped for this game, seems it could happen since no ticket reservation needed.

Also seems a possibility for this weekend. People here would be in disbelief if we filled it up, but that used to be the norm for MBB. I still think we didn’t go too large for UB&T and someday may wish it was larger.

It's less than 3 hours from Hampton to JMU...how long is the meeting lasting? J/K sorry you'll miss it.

Laughing here....the meeting is all weekend.....and don't think we didn't talk about coming back for the game....but we have obligations to the group tomorrow night that will allow us to watch the game but not be gone for the entire evening (hospitality and making sure there is plenty of food for the group). We will have to rely on the rest of you!!

Can't look past VT...but if JMU wins that game, and gets Georgetown at home, there's a possibility that the WBB program will set a record for most wins in a season, which I believe will be 30.

WVU 27,Northwestern 9 early in 2nd quarter. I don't see how WVU hosts any more WNIT games after this small of a crowd(1,314) though.

It looks to me like they seed teams in each region for the men's side of NIT. Reading online it sounds like WNIT is a bit different.

Guess hosting is bid based? Are bids for all rounds submitted in advance like fcs, or they bid after each round? It looks to me like Georgetown is slotted to travel next round, unless I misunderstand things.

I could see some schools overbidding and eating a loss if they want home court badly enough. P5 schools may have the budget to do that.

Visually looking at the bracket it almost looks to me like JMU, WVU, New Mexico, and Arkansas are set to host until the final 4 if they win out. But not clear if that holds or not.

Roanoke Times article on Kenny Brooks return to JMU.
"Going back so soon is not something I particularly wanted," Brooks said Wednesday in a phone interview. "It's tough."
"The toughest part about it is everything leading up to it-the nostalgic moments that I'm going to have. We're going up to the Convo (on Wednesday night) to practice. Or just being in the city(of Harrisonburg). Coming out before pre-game. That's probably going to be the harder parts."

"I'm sure they'll be pumped up,not only to play a BCS road that's right down the road, but I also can't help but think that the fact I'm coming back will give them a little bit more juice." Brooks said. "The biggest thing is just making sure we're locked in and ready to play in a tough environment."

My gut says that outcome could be good for us if we advance.
