brink brewing & streetside brewery have almost perfected their NE-style ipa but hasn't really taken off on the national scene yet.

hoof-hearted in columbus is probably my favorite brewery within driving distance. their NE style IPAs are some of the best in the world right now, notably KeyBump and Dragonsaddle.

I'm making another stop in bearded iris in nashville this year and can't wait. also have some new glarus spotted cow/raspberry tart coming back from WI from a friend next week.

I live in Nashville and my brother works for a distributor and is a hardcore beer guy. All the beer guys love Bearded Iris but their favorite is Southern Grist. An awesome brewery outside of Nashville is Calfkiller in Sparta, TN.

Nah. Catsup on everything. Put it on a baked pork chop for a BBQ sandwich, put it on your boiled hotdog for that Smokey wiener taste (credit BC#1 on that), but nothing tops those crock pot catsup ribs. MmmmmHMMMM! Love me some Memphis style BBQ!! Wash it down with a room temp Coors Light.

RE: Beer Thread
I am a huge craft beer nerd, self-styled aficionado of Houston breweries. Houston has one of the best beer scenes in the country, not just by sheer number, but quality of product. There are 37 breweries/brewpubs currently operating in the Houston metro area, with another 17 slated to open in the next two years. Some of the bigger names in the city are below.

Saint Arnold Brewing - Houston's oldest independent brewery (2nd oldest in Texas, behind Spoetzl, who makes Shiner), founder Brock Wagner is considered the godfather of craft beer in Texas. They have a lot of good traditional styles. Art Car IPA and Santo black Kolsch are some of their best year-round beers, while some of their seasonals/specials, like Pumpkinator, Divine Reserve series, and Bishop's Barrel series are hot commodities. 8 medals in the last 5 years at the Great American Beer Fest.

Karbach - Karbach was founded as an independent brewery, then sold to Budweiser a few years ago. They still have some good stuff, and their marketing budget has obviously gone through the roof, but they rubbed a lot of Houston beer people the wrong way by "selling out".

8th Wonder Brewing - A quirky, unique brewery located in east Downtown, really close to Toyota Center and Minute Maid Park. These guys put out some really unique styles, not afraid to take risks. Their marketing is really good, as they play on Houston cultural topics with all of their logos and beer names (Hopston, Dome Faux'M, Cougar Paw, etc.)

Spindletap Brewing - As you may be able to tell by the name, these are some oil & gas guys that got into craft brewing. Their brewery is located at the site of their energy services business. They got in early on the hazy, New England IPA craze, and they are one of the hottest breweries in Texas right now due to their abilities with that style. Their monthly hazy releases sell out in minutes.

Buffalo Bayou Brewing - These guys may be the most adventurous brewery in town when it comes to beer styles, particularly with Belgians and stouts. Some examples include Thin Mint Stout, Red Velvet Stout, Pineappel Tripel, Cucumber Wit, etc.

I know you're joking, but 8th Wonder (Dome Faux'M) and Buffalo Bayou (Sam's Daily) both have "US domestic light" alternatives that sell pretty well.

It’s a sign. Only drink it if the mountains are blue. Personally, I enjoy sex in a canoe.

I've had some good craft "lawnmower beers". Kolsch, American Blonde (excluding West Coast), the occasional style revival like Kentucky Common...but I shudder to group them in American Light Lager category. The big boys own that style and it basically means "cheap, fizzy, low cal, and adjunct" now. Bud Light even has rice listed on the packaging.

Yeah but thats Bud Light, the Cincinnati craft beer. I prefer the silver bullets. Nothing cheap about Golden Colorado. Even the city sounds crafty.

I actually saw this on the shelf when I was little. Apparently it can still be found, though I'm not sure where - Tulsa maybe? It garners a whopping 1.19 out of 5 at ratebeer.com!

You guys made me deliciously thirsty. I'm helping a brother move tomorrow morning. I might have to bring a case of locally brewed Ghost River and Wise Acre tomorrow with me and pop some tops early.

If it's on your bucket list to ever visit Alaska, do not discount their beer. Oh do they love their beer. My best friend and his wife live there, I've been there a few times now. I think their cultural philosophy is to work hard and drink quality beer. They drink beer relentlessly...its engrained in their culture. The local breweries are fantastic.

You do realize Alaskans regard us as the "Lower 48?"

Maybe you don't.

Shall I educate you?
