Sun Belt basketball schedule for Week 13 (Mon. Jan 28 thru Sun. Feb. 3)
Standings are quite a jumble after 4 weeks of play. The standings look like:

6-2 Texas St.
6-2 Ga. State
5-3 Ga. Southern
5-3 UTA
4-3 Louisiana
4-3 ULM
4-3 Coastal Carolina
3-5 Troy
3-5 South Alabama
3-5 Ark. St.
2-6 Little Rock
1-6 App. St.

This week's games:

Thursday, Jan. 31:
ULM at Coastal Carolina
Louisiana at App. St.

Saturday, Feb. 2:
Ga. Southern at Ga. State
ULM at App. St.
Louisiana at Coastal Carolina
UTA at Texas St.
Troy at South Alabama
Ark. St. at Little Rock

Sort of a light week for games this week probably highlighted in in-state games Saturday in Texas and in Georgia.

Pretty clear after 4 weeks that there are probably 5 and maybe 6 teams who all have reasonable chances to win the league this year.

If Louisiana wins at App we'll have two teams tied at the top at 6-2 and a 4-way tie one game back at 5-3.

It's gonna be a dog fight this year for the regular season championship

More likely a cat fight.

Probably. Probably a cat fight with an eagle watching from the sky hoping it can get lucky and unsuspectingly swoop down on the fight.

Dadburn Karma. After a good Thursday night for the Texas teams, we both got spanked by the Georgians on Saturday. This week is an interlude with the in-state games. I'll feel better about our chances if we show well against Louisiana and Alabama schools later on. The Belt is a good conference this year, and pretty even from top to bottom.

UTA beat Georgia Southern, Georgia Southern beat Texas State, Texas State beat Georgia State, Georgia State beat UTA. This weekend didn't make much sense in Georgia.

Don’t sleep on the Warhawk and Cajun, both teams would be in good shape if they can get a sweep in the Carolinas

So since App only has 6 losses, we're not completely out of it yet...Sweet.

I'll rule some people out if that's what y'all really want.

App, Little Rock, A-State, and USA you're ruled out. Hell throw Troy in too.

RE: Sun Belt basketball schedule for Week 13 (Mon. Jan 28 thru Sun. Feb. 3)
While I get where everyone's coming from, let's look at the remaining schedules:

Right now, six of the seven schools with three or fewer losses are in Texas, Louisiana and Georgia. CCU is the other. While it's never too late to count anyone out, Alabama, Arkansas and App all have five losses and I'll omit them for now.

Let's look at the games the "contenders" have against one another.

GEORGIA: The two have to play each other twice, and travel to Louisiana.
LOUISIANA: The two play in Lafayette, host the Georgia schools and travel to Texas
TEXAS: Must play each other twice and host the Louisiana schools.
CCU: Must make the Texas road swing and play the Louisiana schools twice each.

Now, the other teams could certainly spoil the party for any of these teams. But the two Texas schools have a very favorable schedule the rest of the way.

It should be noted that Texas schools have not lost to anyone outside of the Georgia schools.

And, if you were wondering, here is the schedule of which schools only play an opponent one time this year:

ALABAMA: Texas and Louisiana
ARKANSAS: Georgia and the Carolinas
GEORGIA: Arkansas and the Carolinas
TEXAS: Louisiana and Alabama
LOUISIANA: Alabama and Texas
CAROLINAS: Arkansas and Georgia

I'm expect standing room only when our game is played in Statesboro.

The lead up to the March match up vs State was well thought out:

11pm : Spring Football Game
2pm : Baseball Game
5pm : Basketball Game
Sometime after the MBB game is the EFFA Annual Auction (big raffle party and silent auction)

That battle for last is going to be amazing. Probably the most important battle of the year by far in this league. Its a shame so few are paying attention to it while they worry about petty things like Championships and NCAA Tournament bids.

Our chances will hinge on our next 3 games—all on the road. At Ga St Saturday and at Louisiana schools next week. If somehow we can go 2-1 in those 3 we will bea legit contender
