It refers to the "boys will be boys," mindset that essentially waves off violence or sexual aggression. It refers to the idea that "boys don't cry," therefore encouraging males to shut down emotions.

Yes; it also refers to the jackwads who think it's okay to talk over women at work or feel that their ideas are superior simply because they're men, but again, that's not ALL masculinity.

There are a lot of "guys' guys" out there who are not like the people described above. The Gillette commercial highlights that.

Toxic Masculinity is a play on words...and liberals are great at it. There's a reason this phrase has been coined.

I’m pretty sure it’s a joke based on what creeps usually say to women when they’re cat-calling them on the street.

I don't think so, it isn't Nike.

Keep in mind who is most often making the Target runs/household purchases in a family.

well that is a bit sexist, no?

Clearly his toxic masculinity talking.

And for at least one household, the real answer to the "question", is ME.

After a few years the wife and I had to agree we simply couldn't afford for her to go to the store(s) anymore. 03-lmfao

We are living in an era of woke capitalism in which companies pretend to care about social justice to sell products to people who pretend to hate capitalism.

Imagine if a feminine product did a commercial on "toxic femininity," whether that be the flirty type or the hostile feminist type.

Ohhhh, I get it now. It's only comedy if you offend normal people. If you offend liberals it's hate speech and has to be cured.....

Toxic masculinity, gender and other irrelevancies matter to some people. It’s stupid and prejudiced, but there it is.....

Toxic masculinity is bullying boys because they don't check all the boxes of what a "traditional" stereotypical male should be.

It's picking on the boy who is in Drama club for being "queer", or the boy who plays the flute in band because it's seen as a "girl" instrument.

There is nothing masculine about that.

Good thing its winter, because there are a lot of snowflakes in here.

Really, you guys are so fragile that you can't handle a razor company not validating your behavior? Prepare the fainting couch wussies.

----

Maybe they should just jack the price up to 10 bucks a blade, and call it TACTICAL razors for manly men.

Its giving a middle finger to a large % of your customers. Just an amazingly stupid technique.

So, the incels will buy their razors elsewhere. Meh. You are aware that WOMEN buy a lot of razors, right? And its not like Gillette's price point is geared towards the 'no college degree crowd' either.

It's not a question of handling anything. It's the beginning of something more akin to enough is enough on the insane accusative psycho babble crap that your buddies spew. It's long overdue and when the real push back begins it won't be pretty, but it will be definitive.

We Don’t Need Less Traditional Masculinity, We Need More

Interesting thoughts by Denise C. McAllister. Even though this was a response to the APA publication, it fits here as well.
