Sun Belt basketball schedule for Week 11 (Monday, Jan 14 thru Sunday, Jan 20)
Here are the standings after 2 weeks of play:

4-0 Ga. State
3-1 Texas St.
2-2 Louisiana
2-2 Ga. Southern
2-2 ULM
2-2 Troy
2-2 South Alabama
2-2 Ark. St.
2-2 Little Rock
2-2 UTA
1-3 Coastal Carolina
0-4 App. St.

This week's games

Thursday, Jan. 17:
Ga. Southern at Troy
Ga. State at South Alabama
Little Rock at Texas St.
Ark. St. at UTA

Saturday, Jan. 19:
App. St at Coastal Carolina
Louisiana at ULM
Ga. Southern at South Alabama
Ga. State at Troy
Little Rock at UTA
Ark. St. at Texas St.

2 weeks in and there is a jumble at 2-2. Ga. State may be the best team although they should likely be 3-1 instead of 4-0.

Bobcats really need to sweep the Arkansas schools in San Marcos if we want to compete for the regular season title. Especially with a trip to Georgia the week after.

Ditto for your traveling partners in Arlington! The UT Arlington team is showing signs of life, winning two road games, by ten points at App State and by Davis' 3 pointer with two seconds left at Coastal. So is this assortment of JC transfers and freshmen now learning to play together, make free throws and sink threes? We shall see.

The next two home games against Arkansas State and Little Rock will give us further evidence about UTA's progress with the Ogden rebuild project. We're 6-11, but it's still early enough that by Groundhog Day (Feb 2d) in San Marcos, UTA could be a 2019 contender. Here's hoping! We always enjoy our games against Danny Kaspar's teams.

@brant_freeman
How competitive has @SunBelt MBB play been this season? Of the 24 conference games played so far, 13 have been decided by 6 points or less.

Of the 12 games last week, half of them were decided by 3 points or less, not counting Troy/A-State in OT (90-85 Red Wolves)

A loss to either team would be devastating to the NET ranking as well. Can't afford to loss these games.

2 game road sweep was devastating to our NET ratings....

We dropped almost 20 spots just by going to the Carolinas.

Of note: Troy is 5-3 against Georgia State since 2016. This matchup always seems to swing in different directions.

This could be considered a rivalry of sorts considering Troy and Georgia State were always competitive against each other, even back in the A-Sun days. Both teams first met in 1951. I believe this will be the 42nd meeting between the two.

Very true. As much as GSU shouldn't have beat ULM, it keeps them up in the NET with us and could help later with a road win over them. I reality NET isn't going to matter much anymore because the SBC will be a one bid conference and there isn't an easy way to get boosts now that conference play has started.

Remember that time we only lost one conference game the entire season? I do :(

Yeah, they were hot that game at their place. I knew there was gonna be a letdown, just didn't know when. Troy being 5-3 against us in the last eight is noteworthy. Would love a sweep.

Wasn't it also at Troy, our last year before coming to the Belt, that we were down by 1 with like a second left and missed two foul shots to give it to the Trojans? (I think it was James Vincent who missed them. I still feel bad for him.)

We really need to beat UTA if we’re going to get much out of this trip. Texas state is probably a step to far

Lefty Driesell always hated playing Trey State... we were #1 in the nation most of those years in 3-pointers.

We also had great basketball and great attendance..... sellouts were common.... sure do miss that....

How good is stAte? Their record is not much better than UTA, App or CC. I'm hoping the two Arkansas teams will behave and just be stepping stones for TSU and UTA.

Between 1998 and 2004. Troy won the A-Sun title 4 out of 5 years. Went to the NCAA's and NIT. Beat Arkansas, Boise State, Ole Miss, #22 Pepperdine, and SDSU those years. Troy was 8-8 against Georgia State back when Driesall was dominating at GSU, and we were 10-4 against UCF. It was usually GSU, Troy, and UCF duking it out for the A-Sun title back then.

Sad times now.

I didn’t know Texas Southern decided to move from the SWAC to the Sun Belt
