I didn't even know you were without two of your best players, are they out for season? UNT fans act like the won the title last night, so we might as well cancel the conference season since they have already won....

I'm not acting like we won the title, but we did win the game last night. Some LT fans seems to believe every time they lose a game, in any sport, it was by some fluke. They just don't want to own up to the fact they got beat. It's the same excuse every time they lose... "You won, but only because we didn't ... ".

I'm fine with people still questioning how good North Texas is. Truth is, we are only two games into the conference schedule. There are plenty of games left in the season.

This times a million. The arrogance from LaTech is P5 levels of ridiculous

Clearly they're the better team, have better players, a better coach. Ruston is basically the college sports mecca, and we clearly conjured up some sort of old school Robert Johnson blues contract with the devil to even have a chance at thinking about beating them.

Not at all, When Tech was back-back reg season champs, UNT shot 80% in the first half and beat Tech. And UNT was horrible that year.

Any team can win at home, especially in that bad lighting “pit” that UNT plays in, Tech always shoots poor there. It is a unique adv UNT has always home, Ive mentioned that before

UNT is better this year no doubt, but after watching them in person, I just dont think they have the talent to win the conference

Bad lighting that is a new one for me. Also if I were a La Tech fan, I would not get into a facility debate.

NT won the game but it is a long conference season. My guess is the league champion will have 3 or 4 loses.

As far as the oc schedule, La Tech also had more than their share of wins over bad teams.

I don't get all the criticism of NT's schedule, would you feel better if NT had scheduled a couple of top 25 teams and was 12-3? What matters is the CUSA schedule and right now NT is 2-0.

I agree with the OP. I had my doubts about them but after they beat UNM at the Pit they won me over. North Texas will finish in the top pod and fight till the end for a regular season CUSA Championship.

Really why New Mexico? They are 7-6....4-3 at home....St Mary's beat them 85-60, same St Mary's team WKU dominated at home most of the game until very end....They lost to New Mexico St. by 35, same New Mexico St lost to cal Baptist at home. They have not beaten anyone worth anything this season, very strange take here...

UNT deserve to win the game but I believe Tech is more talented and should beat them. in Ruston, barring anymore injuries. I think UNT loses 5to6 or 7 down the stretch

More talented, maybe but they didn't show it in this game. La Tech looked like primarily a one man team on the offensive end. Bracy was outstanding, but lack of depth is going to be hard for La Tech to overcome.

You didn't see two of our guards Exavian Christon 12.0 ppg and Derric Jean 9.1 ppg. Both are out with injuries.

And both were starters.

Relax, the guy is entitled to his opinion.

New Mexico is still a winning MWC team with a history of being good, especially at home.

You can't read too much into these transitive property scenarios to really see how good someone is. Although NMSU did lose at home to California Baptist they did go into Allen Fieldhouse and play Kansas within 3 points.
Sounds a lot like WKU, lose at Missouri State but beat Wisconsin.
I will give North Texas credit for winning at Terre Haute, something WKU couldn't do but I don't see a single ranked team on their schedule and I see 3 wins over non-D1 teams
I think they will contend but so can Marshall, ODU, and LaTech.

And North Texas beat Indiana State in Terre Haute. The same Indiana State that beat us in Terre Haute.

Look I posted this after watching the first half. Granted, La Tech caught up a lot in the 2nd half but the Mean Green were impressive in that first half. They're quick, they can shoot. Their big man reminds me a lot of Tolu Smith with his footwork. North Texas will be a tough out and much like ODU they got a favorable schedule. They also have the tournament in their backyard so it is very hard to discount them.

EDIT: Also just because they played a weak schedule does not mean that they are not a good team. Only that they haven't completely proven it yet.

Nmsu loss to cbu was a road game. Not a huge deal but the road is always tougher.

So to those who don’t believe in UNT: what does UNT need to do to prove themselves to you? Do we need to win @ ODU or would that still not be enough? I don’t think we can sweep the conference, especially with the pod system but if we go 3-2 or 4-1 against the other top 6 teams then will you believe UNT is for real?

We all think UNT is a solid team, but being (for real?) might be taken differently by people. When I think of a for real team, I think of a team that could be a sweet 16 team when I see them. But I do think UNT has a good team, but until I see UNT play a top 25 type team I just don’t know

I get it it’s not a resume building win, and this is not the same powerhouse UNM of past years. Regardless of their record the Pit remains one of the more intimidating arenas in the country. UNM would have exposed a pretender in Albuquerque.

Seeing North Texas win at an arena I’ve been to as an opposing opponent many times flipped the switch. I’m buying into the hype of the top 40 NET ranking and the shiny 14-1 record.

I would do the same for any team in this conference.

This doesn’t mean UNT is going 21-0 and getting the auto bid but I believe they are one of the top five teams in the conference, and they’ll keep their name in the conference title conversation until mid-March.

UNT’s schedule sets them up nicely for a spot in the top pod. They have a real chance to be 6-1 or 7-0 in conference when they travel to ODU. Their February schedule is a lot tougher facing WKU and Marshall in Denton and the F_Us in Florida. Splitting those last 4 games should be enough to get them a spot if they take care of business in January.

UNM is currently beating #6 Nevada by 23 with 4 minutes left. This win is looking a lot better.
