BUT, the top G-5's- like UCF- would crush them, and if they had to play a schedule like what Georgia played from mid-October through the SECCG the lack of depth would doom them.

NO WAY are they a top 20 team.

All the great teams got the benefit of home field advantage back in the day. Playing Marshall on their home turf in front of 30k was a tall task for FCS programs use to crowds of 10-15k. The Rock in Boone and Paulson always had a reputation for being extremely tough on the opposing team. I knew a player on the 2004 UNH team that went into Statesboro and did the unthinkable. Their luck did run out the next week in Missoula...lol. Talk about a brutal back-2-back road trip.

I really don't think the top G5's would crush NDSU, not even close. UCF and their tempo and NDSU's ability to move the chains would be great to watch. The Knights played a very easy schedule relatively speaking. The Bison could certainly navigate it with 2 losses or less. I don't think people realize how good of a QB Easton Stick is. Dude is a baller! They have a stable of RB's that can get to all levels of the defense. Temple went 8-4, 7-1 in the AAC and we managed to lose to a 5-6 CAA Villanova team. Given how schedules are unbalanced in these modern day conferences there's not a doubt in my mind NDSU would be a force in all of them.

These dudes are just talking to be talking lol. NDSU is better than both Georgia Southern and App were but they're really convinced that those dudes wouldn't be able to compete. The logic is dumbfounding.

I won't cede defeat to an FCS team with 65 scholarships and neither should any of you. They should play FBS and I would love to have them, but to each their own.

NDSU isn't too far to make it work for football only. Plus, the airport in Fargo is right next to the campus. So no bus ride through the middle of nowhere from a major airport to the college town. I'd like to see NDSU go FBS. Mountain West makes most sense, but Sun Belt would be pretty cool because you play good football. The MAC is a snoozefest.

A weak schedule relative to who? NDSU?

Don't sell UCF short. They beat top 10 Auburn in the Peach Bowl last year, have won 25 in a row, mashed Pitt by 31 this year, and nobody- including top 10 Auburn in a NY6 bowl- has held them under 31 points in the last 2 years. That is a top tier P5 team masquerading as a G5. They would run NDSU off the field, as would any of the other top P5 programs.

Give NDSU UCF's schedule and there are multiple losses, give UCF NDSU's schedule and there are no competitive games. That is the difference.

Also, Georgia Southern actually won road playoff games during their run- 2 in 1985 (over #1 and #3 seeds), 1 in 1986 (over #2 seed), 1 in 2000 (over #2 seed). NDSU hasn't won a single road game in any of their championship runs.

Ndsu doesn't get the chance to play road games like gs did because they are so good they always are the #1 seed. That doesn't make Georgia southern teams seem stronger than ndsu at all

As far as I’m concerned NDSU can put up or shut up. The West needs stronger members. Bring both NDSU and Montana as football only members. Spit USA to the East. No more permanent crossovers. Will increase league marketability, possibly exposure, and average attendance. Will also help with media negotiations in a few years.

Did you actually SEE the 1986 GS team play? Check out their schedule (and roster) that year- or ask some of the old Ark State guys on here- then compare it to NDSU this year and you will understand my point a little better.

Also, take a look at NDSU's schedule this year. They played NO FBS schools, a D-2, and 10 out of their 14 opponents have 5 or more losses.... not exactly running a gauntlet. Like I said, give UCF their schedule and every game is at least a 4 TD blowout.

Or to demonstrate the lunacy even further, give NDSU the schedule Florida (who is rated 1 spot behind NDSU in Sagarin) played and vice versa. Again, with NDSU I see 3 probable wins (Co St, Idaho, Chas So), 3 games they could be competitive in (Vandy, UT, FSU), and multiple score losses to UK, LSU, UGA, SC, Michigan, Miss St, and Missouri with 5 or 6 of those being beatdowns (21+ losses). Now give UF NDSU's schedule, EVERY single game would be at least a 4 TD blowout.

I could go on but the point is made. Just like in boxing, there are weight classes for a reason.

Well to be clear, App came in and dominated.

Ga South still has a losing record to GSU. And hasn't dominated.

GS won the conference and 9 games in 2014. I'm not sure how that isn't domination? They lost some guys in 2015 resulting in a setback, then Fritz left. They then hired Summers rather than their current HC for the position and were screwed out of 2016 and 2017.

NDSU is building a thirty million dollar IPF football operations center.
Their arena just got renovated and they have plans to add 1200 seats to Fargo dome. They are going for their fifteenth national championship.
Seems like they have outgrown FCS and at some point fans will lose interest. They have no control of moving up geography kills them. I can see fans losing interest when their just good or average because the highs have been so high. Then again losing the other three Dakota and UNI vs MAC or SBC might hurt their program. The MAC should add SDSU and NDSU both are good all around athletic programs. In my opinion App st and Georgia Southern would not be as successful without both moving up together.
Ideally you have that rival that can turn a bad year into OK by beating them.

Yep. 2013 was only tolerable by beating a ranked GaSo while being 1-6.
