The defense deserved a chance to win that game, Carey never gave them that.
Why do you constantly hate on Carey with every chance you get? But NEVER say a word about Monty when the basketball team sucks? Carey just won the MAC championship while Monty is getting blasted by any team that has a pulse. Quite the double standard MD.

What were the "Glory" days? When we beat a 4-9 Alabama team (That also got lit up by a Hawaii team at the end of the season). Carey is super conservative, but hey, we got within 7 points of knocking off #1 Ohio State. We also kept Ezekiel Elliot from running into our end zone.
Carey prevented NIU from winning that Ohio State game
Many ways to look at it...So what are your thoughts on the 2006 OSU game that Joe Novak coached?
That 2006 Buckeye team was probably 3 times better than the Ohio State that Carey faced. Carey deserves credit for being the head coach of an NIU team that had a defense that allowed NIU to be competitive with Ohio State, but NIU was never going to win that game the way the game was called offensively. Rolling Hare out when everyone knows darn well Hare is not going to complete a pass that way was waving the white flag. Hare's job was to roll out, throw the 5 yard sideline pattern if it was there, throw it away, or run out of bounds. NIU did not give their playmakers even a shot in that game which was really frustrating. The other frustrating thing, you have Carey willing to do a fake punt at your own 10 yard line in a bowl game against Duke, but not willing to go for it near midfield in a 4th and inches situation against the number one team in the land. I just will never understand. You had a defense play the game of a lifetime, yet did not even give them an opportunity to win the game.
2015.... 9 OSU offensive skill players accumulated stats vs. NIU, play or spent time in NFL. 2 are all pros and NIU held them under 300 yards.
8/11 starting defenders were drafted.
They had 5 1st rd draft picks in 2016, 12 in the 1st four rounds.
Knowing you, you'll probably pull out some Alabama draft stats and say they are better. This team was loaded but you had say some other OSU team was 3x better and point out Carey's coaching as never giving them a chance to win.
You are delusional in your hate. It's a sickness. Do you even have fun watching NIU? not liking a coach is one thing, but it's an obsession that most of us are getting tired of reading about, seeing you go this way on every thread. You get worse here every day, if that's possible.

NIU alum Rick Cerrone asked Bob Costas to do this for the 2013 NIU athletics Hall of Fame induction banquet, which celebrated the 1963, 1983, and 2003 football teams. Here's more from Mike Korcek's HuskieWire article about the most recent banquet:
"Event coordinator/consultant Rick Cerrone, a 1976 NIU graduate, guarantees the EPSY-like theater presentation falls into the category of “spectacular,” “celebrates NIU athletics, past and present,” and offers several Huskies surprises that evening.
This year’s ceremony also features the NIU Marching Huskies Band, tribute videos (the last two were narrated by sports media giants Bob Costas and Brent Musburger), and commemoration of the 2016-17 Jacoby Trophy – symbolic of NIU’s first Mid-American Conference women’s all-sports championship last spring."
