Are you seriously trying to compare this current jalopy of a team to the great NIU teams that Costas references in this awesome piece on NIU?
Man, your devotion to selling the Coach Carey agenda knows no bounds.
NIU just won the MACC is and is going to a bowl for the 10th time in 11 years.
There have been some setbacks but yes, it is still a great time for Huskie football, especially in light of the lack of resources for the team. They do a lot with a little.

This Jalopy of a team is a MAC champion and boasts an All-American, and two potential NFL draftees in Sutton Smith and Max Scharping...say what you want about Carey and his 5 play playbook...but we are winners

I don't care if this NIU team is ready for the demolition derby. The range of emotions from very frustrating to pure joy has been amazing. All the close games kept me engaged as a fan for better or worse. Then the last game just wow. Keep it going Huskies in Boca. Can't make this one and we travel to Florida plenty. Wish I was going.

It's true... you guys just get it done. Year in and year out.
You're not flashy, you just win. You're the anti WMU/Toledo essentially.

Nice. A buddy of mine played for WMU back in the 90's so I've followed you guys and pulled for you, except when you played NIU, of course.
You saw what PJ did for your team, what with BCS bowl and all, but for the long term, do you think he was good or bad for the program?

What were the "Glory" days? When we beat a 4-9 Alabama team (That also got lit up by a Hawaii team at the end of the season). Carey is super conservative, but hey, we got within 7 points of knocking off #1 Ohio State. We also kept Ezekiel Elliot from running into our end zone.

They were ranked 22 when we beat them Beating Alabama at home is a great thing, no matter who you are.

Carey prevented NIU from winning that Ohio State game

Many ways to look at it...So what are your thoughts on the 2006 OSU game that Joe Novak coached?
RE: "What a glorious time this is in the history of NIU football" -Bob Costas
I am not smart enough to know if this board was available in the 90's. How many would be calling for Novak's head in his 3rd year? Now he is a legend and rightly do. Yes I realize that this is not Carey's 3rd year. He was handed a successful program etc. He deserves some props. Mostly this team deserves props for what they did. Remember the Petibone led Huskies who ripped a ranked Fresno State team on a beautiful Saturday afternoon
