As a Rutgers fan as well - I beg you not to endorse Mehringer. Look up his offensive stats.

Cignetti sees like a good one to call - Is this how coach changes work, you come to our place and beat us and we want to hire you?
Jeff Bourne - Please get ECU on a football schedule. I'd love to give Houston a loss at ECU.

I don't , that's not a good move for our recruiting reputation. I want some consistency after these last 5 years lol. If we go young I would like to see Rascati get a shot , if we are going to hire a young OC it might as well been of our own.

RE: Official - New Football Head Coach Search
I know many on here are eager to get Elon’s coach, and I get why. At the same time, I’d have some concerns:
His team runs the 3-3-5 defensive stack. Does our defense have the personnel to make this work? It matters, because there is plenty of reason to believe we would be returning the best defense in the FCS next year using our current scheme. Do we want someone who will mess with that?
Has the guy won an FCS playoff game?
The wheels came off both his seasons at Elon when Summers was lost for the year. To what, exactly, can we attribute his success?
Again, not saying he’d be a good or a bad hire, these are just some concerns I’d have.

For a coach with bigger aspirations of a well known FBS, he will need to dominate at JMU like houston did. I will take 3 more years of this over 5+ years of medicore to good teams

Like Rascati, but as a HC?
He's currently the OC at a 6-5 Chattanooga team. They hung 9 points on Mercer and 10 on Furman ... thats not a strong resume yet.

Next man up.
Let's close the deal with Cignetti within the next few days and lock in our recruits.

That's why I said if we go young, I have a feeling of the route we are going to take. I don't want anyone who wasn't on or radar when we were looking at Withers and/or Houston.

ECU fan here. I just wanted to first offer my empathy for losing your coach. We've been in the same position in the past and I hate it, but it's the business. I've followed JMU the past few years since I'm a big fan of former Pirate assistant Donnie Kirkpatrick and learned to admire Houston's abilities. I hope y'all get a home run hire and further compliment you all on the comportment of your fans on this board. More mature than our fan base overall. Good luck to y'all.

Obviously every day counts with recruiting and the early signing day, but the longer we wait the more schools we might be competing with. App State obviously if he goes to Louisville. K State needs a coach so they, App State, Charlotte, Georgia Tech, and anyone else I'm forgetting could leave holes at schools that could be looking at some of the same guys we will. Hopefully Bourne and co. realize how important every day is this time around compared to hiring Withers and Houston.
Yeah we're competing with more regional FBS teams at the same time for coaching candidates than this time in 2015. Critical hire. I'm going to be very concerned if someone isn't locked up in 7 days.

Nothing but positive experiences from ECU fans when I went to JMU at ECU last year, I hope you guys do as well with Houston as I expect you to.

Yes the lack of playoff wins is my biggest concern, but he's 2 for 2 on playoff appearances in as many years. You have to remember he took Elon from annual 12th place CAA finishes to the playoffs literally overnight. With the same roster sans the previous season's seniors. It showed how bad Skrosky was.
Elon doesn't have or didn't have anywhere near the talent or depth up and down the roster that we have. They don't have the resources we have. Rather, their admin isn't willing to commit the resources we have.
With their top RB out for most of both seasons and losing his top QB, with a notable drop off for the back up QB, it's actually impressive that he still somehow got each team into the playoffs.
JMU has MANY more weapons up and down the roster compared to Elon. He did a lot with a little.
Did you also see how he out-coached the **** out of Mike Houston in our game this year? It was a little sad really.

Good luck to you guys. You've had it pretty bad the past few years with Scottie. Not to disparage the guy, he seems like a good person, but it just wasn't working. You got a good one. Looks like the schedules are pretty set but wish we could play again in the near future. You will not have to watch your team 59-3.

Wow Bourne just admitted in his email that MH had FBS job offers after 2016, his first season. Anyone have any idea what school(s)?
