I would have rather of had UAB and had a champ vs. champ or Marshall and rekindle an old SoCon rivalry but I'm cool with MTSU. Old Sun Belt vs. New Sun Belt.
(Frankly I'm just happy to not play an Alabama bowl again)

I understand UAB's decision to go to Boca, they have multiple sports that they want to push and that's fine. MTSU and App will be a good matchup, and it's good to play someone not in the MAC for once in our bowl careers. I feel like this game boils down to how well MTSU's offence stacks up to App's stout defense.

It's laughable to suggest UAB is ducking anybody, they were talking about concerns over the NOLA bowl falling on the same day as the Auburn MBB game weeks ago, but if you'd like to live in your own "reality" be my guest, UAB will be just fine playing in their bowl game and having a sold out MBB game against Auburn rather than just one or the other or worse letting Auburn take over Bartow because all the UAB fans are in NOLA.

Whatever . . . nobody serious about football thinks like that . . . everyone understands that basketball is what it is.

And coming from a Howl Yeah fan I'm not surprised, UAB takes basketball a bit more seriously than the Howl Yeahs(at least I don't recall any deer stand giveaways late in basketball season).

But whether or not you choose to accept the truth that UAB's move was solely motivated by not making their fans choose between the bowl game and a massive home MBB game you still haven't taken a single stab at articulating what exactly was so "retarded" about saying neither bowl game or opponent offered any more or less tangible concrete benefit to UAB.

If UAB would like to finish the season with more top 25 votes, wouldn't playing another team receiving votes be beneficial?

App is #30 today.

NIU is 8-5
App is 10-2

They had their choice and just like Southern Miss, they chose not to play App. Maybe they'd rather reward their fans and players with Boca over NOLA, but I don't understand the choice between those two cities though.

It's 100% about the MBB against Auburn.

And if the best you have to offer is finishing with a few more votes in the final season poll that literally everyone will forget about within minutes of it being released, no, that is not worth making your fans choose between a bowl game OR a massive home MBB game.

What are you suggesting a few extra votes would materialize as in tangible benefit?

No one will remember getting blown out to Auburn in basketball, is that the best you have?

I'm fine playing MTSU. Hell you guys beat the doors off UAB two weeks ago.

I'm stoked for the game. It'll help recruiting regionally if App blows them out

Is that "the best I have"? Well considering it is the reason they opted for Boca... yes?

And it doesn't matter if they lose the MBB, the point is their fans don't have to choose.

New Orleans is a better trip(did it in '09) and App is a more attractive opponent for regional familiarity if no other reason, but in terms of what they actually mean for the football program itself, they're basically the same game.

But enough about that, I too am looking forward to this matchup, I think you guys are deserved favorites, but Brent Stockstill gives me hope.

It's ok for you to ask me if that's the best I have, but not vice versa...

Basketball is a weak excuse for avoiding clearly the better team.

Looking forward to being on Bourbon with thousands of App fans and playing arguably the best CUSA has to offer.

I personally don’t care who we play. We get to go to NOLA and eat good food drink strong drinks and play one more game of football. If Satt coaches this will be his last game with us and I am sure the boys will be ready.

Got my hotel booked and my airline tickets booked so bring it on!

Yes, because I'm offering the truth?

I thought we agreed to move past this, but no one has offered anything resembling an actual reason playing App has more upside for UAB other than the better destination found in NOLA.

Much like I'm not surprised by the response to MBB being given consideration from the Howl Yeahs, your response is also unsurprising.

Your programs may not care about MBB and that's understandable, but UAB does care about it and that is also understandable.

There isn't any significant difference in the two bowl games/opponents whether or not you choose to accept it, the fact remains.

It's worth noting that if we're arguing the semantics on whether or not playing in the Cheribundy Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl (Or Whatever the hell that thing is) Or the New Orleans Bowl is better for a program and a fan base, than I'd argue that we've all completely missed the boat that the best team in our respective league is relegated to playing in a bowl on the first day of the bowl season, because only the cool kids get to play in the bigger games.

Whatever you do, don't do what we did last year and walk in thinking you are going to beat them by a million because they aren't very good.

MTSU is sneaky good right now, and Stockstill is going to be a Senior determined to go out and win his last game. I think App wins, because I don't believe MTSU has the defense to hang with the Mountaineers, but bowl games are weird.

UAB MBB hosts currently ranked #8 Auburn the same day as the New Orleans bowl and they didn't want to make their fans choose between their bowl game and a home MBB game against a top 10 in state power program.

Beating App in New Orleans would mean no more or less than beating NIU in Boca.

That is retarded.

Is it? Is it retarded? How difficult is it to pick a different word?

Putting that aside, sell me on it. Tell me what tangible, indisputable, concrete benefit UAB would get with a victory over App in New Orleans that they wouldn't get with a victory over NIU in Boca.

Neither game will have anything resembling real television viewership, neither team is ranked, so what exactly would be so much better about one victory versus the other especially when weighed against the detriment to hosting Auburn in MBB?

I'm proudly not politically correct. APP is a very good team and beating them would be a much bigger feather in any team's cap than beating NIU.

This is just a politically correct way of saying that you're proud of being dumb.

I'm good with playing MTSU, they are the better team in my opinion and I want the best. Plus Coastal already dismantled UAB so it would take a little of the fun out of it for me. MTSU is the best of their conference and that's who should be playing. It still doesn't take away that UAB and USM are afraid.

Well I for one am amazed at how close this MTSU fan is to the UAB athletic department.
