2019 Football Schedule
Is there any way we can be put in a division with JMU, Richmond, and Delaware?

Sure - and I'd love that - but what do you do with Elon? They're not a long-time CAA rival, but I'd bet they'd have some heartburn being put in the Central or North as they are the southern-most school in CAA football.
As I constructed it, in an eight year rotation, WM would get Villanova AND Delaware on the schedule 4 of 8 years, and either Nova OR Delaware the other four. While I'd love to have WM, JMU, UR, Delaware and Nova in our own division, this method is based mostly on geography (at least an effort to reduce travel costs) and preserves most of our natural rivalries.

At least drop it into an email and send it to the League Office. It is much better than anything they have been using, running their computer program.
(...and, yes, I know that there are a ton of requests by schools, every season, to have certain games on certain days, etc., but this is still a good idea for a base.)
Looks like I have more time than the current commissioner...or at least I've put a little more thought into it...
(And I just emailed it to Mr. D via CAAsports.com. Thanks for the suggestion!)

Me personally? Kick them out of the conference. I don't care about Elon and I don't know why we added them. Maybe put them in the "Teams No One Cares About" Division with Towson, Stony Brook, and Albany.

The vast majority of the FCS division is made up of teams few care about.

I'd put Towson, Elon, Maine, Rhody, Albany, and Stony Brook in that division. I'd put W&M, UR, JMU, Delaware, Nova, and UNH in the "Care About" division. Then I would vote for the W&M division to secede and form its own football league (or, better yet, figure out a way for the other division to leave).

RE: 2019 Football Schedule
Towson and Elon participate in both CAA conferences. They are critical pieces.
Albany and Stony Brook are potential critical pieces if, somehow, both CAA conferences can morph into one all sports league.
If UNH ever decides to leave AE for an all sports CAA, Maine is part of the package.
Unless W&M is upgrading, this is the reality of its current conference affiliation.
My "Care About Division" is located in the ACC, but it is what it is.

2019 Football Schedule
Going to throw out a hypothetical 12th game here. IF reports are correct and London is our guy, I wonder if there’s some kind of a clause in his contract that wherever he goes has to play at Howard. Right now fbschedules.com only has them playing Maryland and Georgetown. Makes sense why we’ve left that open and not announced.

Hmm, very smart to have noticed that! That would also mean that we dropped Campbell and not the other way around. I see that Campbell is playing 12 games next year. They have a FBS game against Troy that maybe they picked up after they fell off our schedule.

RE: 2019 Football Schedule
Circling back to this thread. Has anyone heard anything about a 12th game? Missed opportunity for sure and just a weird schedule with two open dates within one month during first half of season.

VT just flipped ECU the bird and has an open date on their schedule. They've said they're fine playing another 1-AA team. Who wants another check?

Nah. The point of a 12th game would be to win at this point.

I'd take a second FBS opponent in a heartbeat if it was that or nothing. 3% chance of winning but $450,000 pays for a lot of recruitment visits to Texas, California, and Florida.

Get another 1-A check and the athletic department can pay for Shaver to attend a defensive coaching clinic.

RE: 2019 Football Schedule
I figured this was as good a place as any to list this Today in (W&M) Football History
On January 3, 1993, the Buffalo Bills produced pro football's biggest comeback, overcoming a 35-3 lead, in the 3rd Quarter, to defeat the Houston Oilers, 41-38, in OT.
W&M alum, Steve Christie, kicked the winning 32 yd FG, following a Warren Moon interception.
QB Frank Reich finished the game with 21 of 34 pass completions for 289 yards and 4 touchdowns, with 1 interception.
Christie ended up with 11 points on the day, 2 FG's, 5 extra points and also a recovered onside kick. His shoe from that game in in the NFL Hall of Fame.
