Should AAC add Army?
The game with Navy would blow people and TV ratings away.

She'd probably give up an awful lot on size, plus there's only one of her

Amy? No. Army--yes. Then you need a 14th, preferably a football only. BYU would be great but I'm not sure they take that offer.

The Army-Navy game is already a major event. It's not like it would gain any more stature by being a game in a G5 conference.

Besides, Army was already in a conference with several of those teams (C-USA 1.0) and wanted out.

LOL, don’t tell that to the AAC posters. They still think there’s a chance. 07-coffee3 01-wingedeagle

They wanted out because they sucked. Army joined CUSA (which was the AAC of its time), so they obviously wanted to be in a conference at one point. Now that they have got the squad turned around and have seen both Air Force and Navy be quite successful in a G5 conference---they might be more willing to give it another shot.

RE: Should AAC add Army?
To be honest:

Adding Army is a HUGE mistake. All anyone in the AAC would be looking at would be the Army-Navy Game(Which is off limits. Not only by CBS, but the public at large). Ask CUSA how having them in the Conference helps. Army needs to be a Indy because who they are and they are comfortable in their own skin......

Not JUST because they sucked, but also playing the CUSA teams got them more banged up. Army has the lightest weight lines of the three academies because of phyisical requirements of West Point. Indeed, getting more banged up is part of why they sucked so badly.

One season doing well as an independent doesn't suggest they should abandon Independence. Indeed cit suggests Independence is OK.

And if they had a problem getting November home games and wanted to fix that, they could resume the scheduling agreement they once had with the MAC, without getting the Army-Navy game entangled in conference scheduling.

RE: Should AAC add Army?
Too many are acting like it’s the AAC’s choice. If Army wanted to join, the AAC would invite them 100% guaranteed - it’s not even a debate. Conference realignment is about prestige and money, which is what Army brings to the table much more than any other realistic option for a G5 conference. The reason why Army isn’t in the AAC is because Army wants to be independent. Asking whether a G5 league should add Army (or BYU) is like asking whether a P5 league should add Notre Dame: of course they should add them, but the league isn’t the one with the power. The question should be, “Should Army give up independence to join the AAC?” - the phrasing of that question accurately portrays the party that has the control and power here.

Agree. I have long maintained that 3 schools have what amounts to a standing invitation to the AAC—-BYU, Army, and Air Force.
