Count among our victims in the past 20 years or so who won't likely be returning: Kentucky, NC State, Miami (FL), Oregon State, Illinois, Purdue, Wisconsin, and Kansas. I'm surprised old BE foe Pitt is returning; WVU, Louisville, Rutgers and Syracuse would seem unlikely.

I suspect that eastern P5 opponent is Boston College. If so, that one if fine with me. I'd go hard after the other service academies for home and home. Air Force and Army have some brand value and are exciting road trips.

had a home and home with Air Force a few years ago, but UC backed out before the series started

This.

The FCS schools cost less to buy a game from. That's why Youngstown St isn't coming here for one game anytime in the future.

Is there still an "FCS penalty"? Specifically, you could only count one FCS win toward bowl eligibility over a certain multi-season time period--three years maybe.

Mid-level P5 programs are not as rich as you might think. Schools like Texas Tech and Missouri are competing against schools in their own conference with nearly twice as big a budget. Washington State is only one spot ahead of UC on the USA Today athletic revenue chart.

There's a reason Kansas, Utah, Miami (FL), Maryland, and Syracuse played away games at MAC schools this year.

Youngstown State is FCS.

Youngstown State is FCS.

I think what he meant to say is that Alabama A&M is much cheaper to buy than YSU. Not so sure about price, but I think YSU's status as a top shelf FCS program can afford them with more selectivity in who they agree to play. Interestingly, I looked up their opponents for the past 10 years and the only FBS schools they have played are Pitt, WVU, Michigan State, Penn State and Illinois. Pitt, WVU and Penn State make a whole lot of sense for them from a geography and interest stand point (you can get to Pittsburgh in about an hour from Youngstown and State College is an easy drive mostly on the Turnpike).

RE: Future schedules
My "dream" ideas for drive-able P5 home and home series would include:

Vandy - Music City road trip anyone?

Northwestern - Chicago is a great town to visit

Pitt - Interesting town with good night life (Yes, I know one is scheduled - more please)

Lower on my list, still driveable:
Purdue - lets go back
VT
Illinois
Indiana
Penn State
Kentucky

Vandy vs Memphis Country vs Blues Chicken vs BBQ? I go Memphis

Nortwestern never been there. I used to have subsidiary in Skokie. Horrible traffic. Just avoid Southside or have an up to date Will.

Pitt Permanti Fries on a Sandwich? Was there twice loved beating them.

Purdue close but totally devoid of meaning.

VT then drive on to Little Washington.

IL they were very nice except to Munchie and the cheating refs.

IU scenic in the fall and reminds me of HS Girlfriend who went there.

PSU Pedi U? I pass

UK ah the smell of burning mattresses in the fall.

Nothing against schools like Alabama A&M, Delaware State, Austin Peay, and SE Louisiana (or whomever we played a couple of years back), but we have more regional FCS programs like Youngstown State (they just played @ WVU two weeks back) and Murray State, or even old BE mates like Villanova, that would bring every bit the buzz of Alabama A&M.

And by bringing in a Youngstown State, you (a) can at least claim to be "helping" another State school, (b) you have better access to their fan-base (just out of a closer distance), and © you "plant" your flag in another part of the State (of Ohio). Not to mention the debatable quality of having a slightly more reputable opponent than Delaware State (a truly awful program) or Alabama A&M (which plays in the SWAC and is just not well known).

I'm sure I'm missing other "regional" (I'll throw the states of Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and maybe even lower Michigan into the mix) FCS programs. I'd just prefer to see names I'd actually recognize on that FCS slot...if we're going to keep filling the vacancies with FCS type opponents.

YSU, Eastern Kentucky and Murry State travel pretty well. Eastern brought a ton of fans about 10 years ago. Would make a lot of sense to fill the seats.

Not sure if it was Bohn or if it dates back to Tuberville, but someone must have struck up a pretty good relationship with the ADs at Alabama A&M and Austin Peay to bring them back within a few years again. We've scheduled them in basketball too.

But, Alabama A&M has the Dancing Divas. Between our band and their band it was a decent half time show.

Did their band do a post game performance?

Alabama A&M Coach media conference call. Flatters UC a bit, says they have gotten games with us because their AD has ties to Louisville. We paid them $500k

Nope. Been there for a game. People without tickets to the game set up tailgate parties and watch the game on TV in the parking lot. I found you can eat and drink a lot for free there.

@ Nebraska

To be honest, I'm not impressed. Nebraska is great, but seeing 3 cupcakes in 2020 hurts.

Needed a home game. Western Michigan has had some recent success. Nebraska is a good road game. I'd rather have another game against a P5 team, but those are hard to schedule this late in the game.

Next year UC has a loaded OOC schedule. The following year we need another home game, hopefully against a P5 team.
