RE: Future schedules
BTW...next year's schedule overall will be a bear. Glad we seem ahead of schedule.

@OSU, @USF, @Memphis, @Houston, @Marshall

Home against UCLA, UCF and Temple.

They will be tested a ton.

So this is our 2020 OOC schedule:
Austin Peay
Western Michigan
@ Miami (OH)
@ Nebraska

To be honest, I'm not impressed. Nebraska is great, but seeing 3 cupcakes in 2020 hurts.

Needed a home game. Western Michigan has had some recent success. Nebraska is a good road game. I'd rather have another game against a P5 team, but those are hard to schedule this late in the game.

Next year UC has a loaded OOC schedule. The following year we need another home game, hopefully against a P5 team.

A home buy game in 2020 brings the possibility of better alignment back into the schedule. We can potentially do a 2021 and 2022 home and home against a quality opponent.

I'm always curious about this. Would you rather see UC as a buy game for a P5 school and only play 1 OOC game at home? Would you rather a Home and Home with a CUSA/Fun Belt/Mountain West team?

The fact is we seem to be able to find one home and home marquee OOC matchup, which is hard as a G5 school. We seem to fill the rest with G5 teams, but unless you want to give up another home game we will have to add FCS schools.

I would prefer to see more P5 home and homes, but I know it is difficult considering our current situation. I'm not assigning blame to Bohn or anyone else, but whether or not there is someone to blame doesn't make the schedule any more exciting... that's all.

RE: Future schedules
I think we all like the P5 games, especially since that is where UC aspires to be playing anyway. We're fortunate to have UCLA, Nebraska and IU coming to town the next few years.

The better UC gets on the field, the less likely many of those schools will be to consider a game at Nippert. It would seem most P5 programs will want to schedule only G5 schools they see as near certain wins to pad their pre-conference win-loss record to reach bowl eligibility.

Outside of the P5, UC should pursue multi-year home and home deals with BYU, Air Force and Army. More sizzle in those brands than most any other G5 schools and all have fans who will travel to Cincinnati. Those are also more exciting road trips for UC fans than, say, Huntington, WV.

The thing about scheduling those schools is that nobody will knock you for scheduling them. That being said, we did schedule AFA a few years back and abruptly canceled on them, so I don't know how eager they will be in engaging with us.

Seems to me we have been successful in scheduling PAC12 schools in recent years. We probably won't get Stanford or USC on the schedule due to other scheduling commitments they have, but I think we should try and schedule Cal, Colorado, and/or the Arizona schools (for both major revenue sports for that matter).

I do think some of the low tier P5 schools will continue to schedule us, but I feel a lot of people don't find those interesting.

Purdue, Indiana, Illinois, Northwestern, Minnesota, Rutgers, Virginia, Syracuse, Pitt etc seem to go G5 schools every year. I love having games against schools like Nebraska or UCLA on the schedule, but it will be hard to get teams like that to come to Nippert every year.

RE: Future schedules
You really gotta have 6 home games, IMO. If that means scheduling a cupcake to get a decent away game within 4 or 5 hours driving, it's worth it. Having a Home and Home with WMU is exciting to me, because I like road tripping to games.

It would be nice to get UK and Louisville back on the schedule for at least one home and home series.

The athletic department wants to try and schedule as many regional opponents, regardless of conference, as possible. Regional opponents bring more fans to the game, both our own and traveling fan bases (see Ohio this year). This means more revenue for the athletic department from ticket sales, concessions, merch, etc. WMU has been a very good program for a while. I suspect they will be solid both seasons.

So right now we have @Indiana and Miami U on the OOC schedule. Have to imagine they want to bring in a P5 school with more chops than the Hoosiers.

I refer back to post #16 in this thread.

I know Ohio had to move some stuff around to get a home and home with Syracuse , so maybe this ended up being a mutually beneficial move for all parties.

Heard Chad on Mo Egger show. The 2021 opponent would be a road game against a team with a "coach that would make it interesting". Sounds like ND

Could be Maryland (Butch Jones), or Michigan State (Dantonio) too.

No way... They'll already be on our ACC conference schedule by then.
