If EMU and Buffalo both lose these games to those two FCS powerhouses AT HOME, they should be tossed from the MAC just on principle alone... 05-stirthepot

I will be honest, I didn't do any research, I have better things to do than do that right now. I just decided to go by individual teams track record in their history. UB and EMU are known for laying clunkers against teams they should beat. So, I went and checked out all four teams.

Because I cannot take an unproven coach, whose only head coaching experience is in high school to win his first game against a team that was pretty decent a season ago, I have changed my selection of the Delaware State at Buffalo game.

However, EMU is coming off a disappointing year. They are facing a team that went 9-3 last season, finished ranked in the FCS and is receiving votes this preseason. Their head coach has been their head coach for 26 years. I can see them winning this game on a last second field goal. So my pick stands. Monmouth over Eastern Michigan.

Marshall is a 1.5 pt. favorite on the road. That would equate to 4-5 pt. favorite on a neutral field.

I picked against them for 39 points confidence in their bowl matchup and they won like their 6th bowl in a row...and big. Litton is gone but Marshall should win 7 or more. The line is close for a reason. This game, CMU, WMU, and NIU have me flip flopping.

I think NIU will make the Iowa game interesting. Just not sure how good Akron's defense really is (pretty good or really good) to handle a Nebraska offense that has a lot of talent but a new system and QB. Part of me thinks Akron could take it to the wire but part of me thinks some of their good players mostly looked good against average MAC teams and maybe aren't that good. Monmouth is an excellent FCS team which EMU should beat but expect a close game. Howard is a dangerous FCS team and Central Conn State made the FCS playoffs too, but VMI is terrible. Hoping Miami and CMU win but Miami always seems to lose tight games and CMU lost a lot of players from last yr and Kentucky has been trending up last couple seasons.

Litton being gone doesn't hurt Marshall as much as one would suspect, between his behavior in 2016 and his on the field decisions in 2017 (14 interceptions, single handidly lost many games for us), far from what most fans consider a good QB, just lacked consistency, Akron rung his bell in 2016 and he was never the same QB from that point on. Not sure we are going to do worse with a green QB, too much talent surrounding whoever gets the nod, so its a good year to have a green QB if you have to go with one. Marshall's defense and ball control is probably going to win them many games this year.
