I'd like to see the epic debates you and SuperFly allude to. I've seen a little bit of back and forth with Owl on economics, but 99% of what I've seen here seems to either be praising Trump or dogpiling on Mach and whoever. Oh, and of course "owning the libs."

To be fair, it's easy to do that what with the complete irrationality of the left these days.

Disagreements off the top of my head

Police brutality / use of force
Tariffs / trade policy
Religion / social conservatism
Size and role of government
Abortion
War on drugs / legalization of drugs
Right to harrass / First Amendment

I can go on.

About the only thing the "conservatives" around here agree on is

No Hilary is Good Hilary
The 2nd Amendment
Criticism of the violent alt-left
There are no gay concentration camps

(None of the above is a definitive list so please, no "whataboutism.")

There was PLENTY of disagreement among conservatives, here and elsewhere, about Trump's SC nominee Monday night.

We have never had a President embarrass NATO the way a Trump did today. You iron out differences behind closed doors. He’s actively trying to curry favor with Putin.

I like it that Trump is putting it all at there. Everyone knows that anything handled "behind closed doors", as you say, would just be leaked to the press afterwards anyway. It's good to call out these other nations that have for too long depended on the US to pay more than it's fair share of NATO costs while they divert resources elsewhere.

Not only to the press but with their spin....

It is what it is. I would criticize Trump when he does something wrong, but he is on a winning streak lately.

The tariff thing is one that could backfire on him, but need to wait and see.

I have an immigration policy that Cons and probably most Libs (hopefully) would agree on.
100% of immigration is hot (7-10 range) women, 18-40, a little something for everyone.
I would be the director of immigration!

I agree that other countries should be doing their fair share. However, everyone agreed that 2% should be the goal by 2024. It sounds like Trump wants this to happen overnight. I think giving NATO a decade to, in some cases, double their defense spending is reasonable.

I would like to see Canada bump their spending up a bit and shore up Arctic sovereignty. As the ice up north thaws, previously unknown resources will be made available and new shipping lanes will open up.

Well if the US decides to cut their percentage to 2% I think the time table would move up.

There's a method to Trump's madness. There's a reason why Germany bore the brunt of his attack.

https://www.dw.com/en/german-government-...a-43622812

Quote:Germany's freshly-minted Finance Minister Olaf Scholz sparked one of the first internal conflicts of Angela Merkel's new government on Wednesday by offering the Defense Ministry only half of the money it had asked for.

This meant that Scholz followed the party line set out by Merkel's junior coalition partner, the Social Democratic Party (SPD), who argue that the German military's current problems – there have been continual reports of hardware shortages and breakdowns – are down to mismanagement rather than a shortage of cash.
