Hey, stop making so much sense with so few words damnit! I struggle to articulate my thoughts and have to write two paragraphs in order to poorly do so and here you are saying what I mean in one sentence.

Here's the difference:

Small child wants candy but is told no - he frowns but goes on with life = Republican

Small child wants candy but is told no - proceeds to meltdown and throw himself on the supermarket aisle floor and have a fit = Democrat

............why is it this way - too many little ones have been given the candy after throwing the fit............................

Perfect analogy.

ain't that the truth......

my daughter......two fingers to the back of the head when she was 3 in the aisle of wally-world.........

she never challenged me again......and she still remembers at 19.....
Mine got swatted on the butt twice. Once because she wouldn't stop and was running toward traffic, and the other because she got too close to a hot grill. Her mom did it both times. I never spanked her because I never wanted her to think it was ok for a man, even her father, to hit her for any reason. I'm not saying this to sound like mr superior, that was just my reasoning. Seems to have worked so far. Like you, voice inflection has been sufficient. If a man ever does try to do that I hope she tells him go to hell because even her daddy didn't do that and he sure in the he'll isn't going to.

It's a f'ing shame to see how far left the democrats have went since the mid 90s . Nope the fringes won out and now the democrats are starting to see their base move away. I'm telling you, on Nov 7th 2016, a republican was not elected....

at least not in the sense of the party of Bush.

That I can agree with. It wouldn't have surprised me if the democrats could've pulled out a whole bunch from Trump if they didn't value the White House so much.

What he's stood for historically:
1. Universal healthcare
2. Improved infrastructure
3. Fair trade deals

I would take all those in a second in a vacuum. A complement here and there would've gotten them what they wanted.

No it wouldn't have. Complimenting Trump gets you no where in the long run. And why should anyone compliment Trump, unless he deserves it.

Tommy is one of those that only see's....ME. A one agenda person that thinks his agenda is the most important thing to the world. Tom is not a person. Tom is not a male. Tom is not a female. Tom is not white. Tom is not black.....

Tom is gay and nothing else matters

Actually, when you face an existential threat simply for being who you are then nothing else matters. Self preservation takes over. So, when I have a right to equal health care, equal participation, and equal standing in society, then lets talk.

I can promise you that to the Trump Admin, the fact that I am Gay is all that matters.

So for persons of color, and LGBT persons, that's all that matters. Don't whine about identity politics because you guys are simply amping it up to exponential heights.

To us, you are completely summed up by your support of Trump. It defines you so much more than the fact I am a Gay man.

So you admit you want special treatment. None of the rest of us enjoy those "rights".

Are you sure you understand exactly what a right is and how we are all afforded the same exact ones, you know, the ones laid out in our constitution and Bill of Rights?

You are everything that is wrong with the gay agenda.

Once again, Tom has no credibility on this board. He had his chance to keep his credibility when the homophobic comments by Joy Reid came out, Instead of showing real character and integrity, he gave Reid a pass on her comments. So it has been proven that one issue Tom is just a typical liberal who just happens to be gay who, when faced with a chance to stand by his words, failed miserably. So I suggest ignore him.

I'm almost there. But I have some perverse desire to hear what others have to say, if for no other reason than to laugh at them.

I doubt I have much credibility with people who think that firing someone for being Gay is okay, that denying someone a hospice bed for being Gay is okay, that refusing to honor a pre-paid cremation contract because the deceased is Gay is okay, and that the enshrinement of taxpayer supported discrimination in health care is okay.

You don't see Gay people as human, much less as equals. Oh, and regarding your supposed "Gay friend". You support Trump and the GOP while they implement HB 1523 in Mississippi, which will deny him medical care.

I bet if Tom woke up one day in a world where there was zero discrimination against alphabet people, he'd kill himself.

What other windmills would he have at which to tilt?

Here's how I see it. The way libs are behaving today is the way republicans of the Obama era behaved, but on steroids. The way republicans are behaving today is just like the dems of the Obama era, but on steroids.

If the democrats get major wins in the midterm, then the roles will reverse again, but on steroids.

Now to the point of my first statement: it was about the whining and nothing else.

Ahhh, so you're saying the dynamic is exactly the same... but different. Got it. Look, I have no problem with you expressing this opinion as you are a solid poster who rarely goes in for dramatics and hyperbole but IMO you couldn't be more wrong in contending that these are separate but equal issues. It's your contention to support, so support it with quantifiable proof. Provide us with more than a handful of links of events that occurred over an 8 year period that you consider comparable and I'll provide the same number of links spanning a month or two. I am sticking with my original statement. BS.

The only thing that really bothers me is that he's gone from saying 'there's been a build up and this is what happened before, but on steroids... and what happened before was what happened before that, but on steroids' in the first place, I probably wouldn't have had an issue with it....

but instead he started off by claiming that shooting up a congressional softball game and calling for the denial of services and boycotts etc etc etc is 'the same spit'... and then defended it when challenged.

IOW, Nomad... you're guilty of what you're complaining about... equating (and thus endorsing) what is happening now as simply being 'quid pro quo'. By definition, it's not. It's an escalation and you admit it later.

I think when you reach a point of inciting shootings and of protesting people eating dinner (not protesting Trump, but his spokesperson and everyone who works for him)... that MOST people would agree that we've gone too far.

If you and i get into a car accident (no injuries) and disagree over whose fault it is... and I say something ugly to you and you yell back at me and I get in your face and you push me away and I pull out a gun, I think most people would agree that I went overboard.... took it to a completely unacceptable level. Heck, if I followed you around and with my friends, heckled you wherever you went, I think most people would also agree I went overboard. I KNOW they'd disagree if rather than heckling you, I had people 'refuse service' to your parents and brothers and co-workers.

Maybe you'd disagree with that and call it 'the same thing', but I think you'd be in the vast minority.

And I think you totally misread me.

Cool, calm, and collected was not a thing back for you guys back then.

I dont seem to remember the right explicitly gunning down Democratic congressman en masse. Please educate me as to when this happened since it obviously is so much the same....

Not mentioning Giffords, but you guys had a guy run over people in Charlottesville when you were #WINNING.

There are wingnuts in all walks of life, no one has denied it. The looney left just has a much larger and more vocal share of them. Be proud, embrace them. I want to see them continue getting national attention, disrupting events, threatening the president and his aides.

Much larger is truly debatable. Much more vocal, I agree.

I just say that if Republicans get disappointed expect to see more crazies on your side.

We were disappointed in 08, we didn't see more crazies then and I doubt we'd see it now. Quite simply, as a group we do not act that way. The left can make no such claim. The left responds and knee jerks emotionally every.single.time. to any issue while the right takes a much more measured approach, usually arrived at through critical thinking, analysis and logic.

If you supply the same amount of links, doesn't that mean it's equal?

Stick to your original statement. That's fine. My original statement was about the woe is me stuff the dems are pulling. Somebody else brought up the more extreme stuff, not me.

No, not when you would have to look back over 8 years to come up with the same number of links I could provide in what I consider a very generous estimate of 1-2 months. I could likely find more events that occurred in one - two weeks than you could for the entirety of Lord Zero's term.

it's too funny how they think us whiteys are all racists in the 'sip......and don't kid yourself, there are still plenty.....

Nailed it.

and I think the reason he wants to be 'special' is that while certainly being something other than a straight white male has some disadvantages, they also come with some advantages. EVERYONE has unique skills, talents and gifts... AND they have their burdens.... and he want's nothing but advantages for 'his' people

Left Handed Relief Pitchers have advantages over right handed ones, but 'growing up left handed' is a lot tougher than right. Tall people have advantages, and disadvantages. Athletic people etc etc etc

I don't know if 'jealousy' is the right word, but all the left wants to talk about is the 'gifts' that they don't have (ignoring the disadvantages) and focus on their own disadvantages (while ignoring their own 'gifts')

and of course, engaging in insulting stereotypes while chastising others for doing the same.

Jealousy (for lack of a better word) is not a good look, nor is it often helpful
