ESPN is desperate for money.
No more free games on ESPN3?

ESPN turning ESPN3 into a pay service. Rebranding.

I wish there was a service that would combine all the sports channels (Big 10 Network, SEC Network, Pac 12, ESPN, Fox Sports, CBS Sports, Golf Channel, etc.) into one for one flat fee of like $19.99/month. I'd pay for that.

Streaming is the future, and ESPN 3 is RT up to handle it. They should monitored it.

I don't think this means ESPN3 is going away. Just that it's now available for $5 to people who've cut the cord

I can't open the link with my phone (I'm out of town). When is this going to start?

I'd actually be willing to pay some money for MAC games if it meant games were on Saturday and we could still have an actual college football experience. But, the combination of pay TV & weekday games is a double loser.

As far as i can tell, this is the case. The current system is staying in place. ESPN+ is a way for those who have cut the cord to get basically ESPN3 and only ESPN3. The package doesn't include ESPN/2/U/News/SEC/etc networks.

I can't tell how or to whom it will be available.
https://www.theverge.com/2018/2/6/169818...lease-date
The article and some others I have found says it will be available to "traditional and non-traditional" subscribers to ESPN but does not describe what that is. I assume traditional is a person with a cable package but I have no clue what a non-traditional subscriber is.

It's finally reached the tipping point. Can't buy tickets and go to the games, because the majority are played during the week. Now, midweek MACtion games are going to what sounds like a form of pay per view. Ratings were pretty low as it was, and I doubt this is going to help.
So much for exposure

Games like OU/Toledo had better viewership than some SEC and ACC games that week. The MACC viewership was better than CUSA's, Sunbelt's, and MWC's Championship games.WMU/NIU's viewership was 385k. Akron/Miami was 369k. OU/Akron 310k. Really not bad numbers.
