Looks like Gonzaga is staying in the WCC. I would assume that means BYU is too but you never know.

Here's a thought I haven't seen thrown around on these realignment threads.

What if the MWC goes to 16 with Texas schools (an old notion) but steals 3 from C-USA (UNT, Rice, UTSA) and 1 from SBC (Texas State)?

That would leave C-USA at an unwieldy 11, one of whom is 1000 miles away from the nearest conference member, and SBC at 9.

Could C-USA somehow drop UTEP to even out at 10, and then SBC would call up JMU? I think that's the cleanest solution to that

UTEP had a shot due to the Gonzaga-BYU gambit. but that fell through.

The only way the MWC expands into Texas now is with Houston and SMU. They will not waste time on anyone else.

I get why the MWC might want to add Houston or SMU . . . .

But why the hell would two schools from "The Mighty P6 American Conference" want to take a step down to the MWC?

Not saying they want to leave the AAC. Just saying that if the MWC ever adds from Texas, it will only be those two.

They have no reason to leave now, but if the AAC were to lose a few schools from the east for some reason, I could see UH and SMU looking for greener pastures.

Lol FAU should drop to FCS? It took a us 15 years to surpass what Troy has done in 100. We’re not going anywhere, get used to it.

I wouldn't say FAU should drop to FBS, personally. They've made a serious commitment/investment to compete in the FBS.

I wouldn't say you've surpassed Troy either, or even matched them. Not because FAU isn't good, but Troy has a steep history and has accomplished a lot for not being in a "market".

Your steep history is only remembered by people over 40, we have passed you. In 20 years we will be a top G5 school getting ready for the jump to the P5.

Ill play nice...

Troy’s history is great, but history is for the older generation. Millennials and Gen X-ers do not remember 100 years of history. As your program grows older, the value of your past history diminishes. It’s all about the future, which FAU will dominate.

History/tradition is nice to have.....but it's overrated especially at the G5 level. Regardless, both Troy and FAU are trending upwards for sure.

You twist words quicker than a politician.

Obviously Notre Dame, Alabama, So Cal, etc are still winners and they have been for the past 40 years.

Which is exactly why FAU will get called up again. It only makes sense, historically speaking.

You're right that Millennials and Gen X-ers do not remember 100 years of history. They don't know much about any kind of history actually, except remembering who Liked their Facebook picture 15 minutes ago.
