RE: AL stealing UL's DC
Was he the new DC, or a leftover from Hudspeth's staff?

It would be Scott’s third job in barely a month and his fourth in two years. He was secondary coach at Texas Tech in 2016 and ’17, and was hired at ULL on December 26. Before going to Texas Tech, Scott spent one season as Louisiana Tech’s safeties coach.

In other words, RTFA.

From Football Scoop
"Louisiana Lafayette: Source tells FootballScoop with Karl Scott now headed to Alabama (per sources), Billy Napier is considering offering his defensive coordinator position to Louisiana Tech DC Blake Baker. Baker was promoted to defensive coordinator for the 2015 season after Manny Diaz left to go to Mississippi State."

RE: AL stealing UL's DC
Might not be a bad thing...
He was Texas Tech's defensive secondary coach in 2016 and 2017, correct? Their pass defense was ranked #123 in 2016, and #122 in 2017. Plus he was a Safeties Coach at La Tech... and God knows La Tech hasn't had a pass defense in recent years.
The Cajuns caught a break IMO.

Would heads explode if the Cajuns poached a coach from La Tech?

Our pass defense may not have been the best in recent years, but it's been good enough that we haven't lost to a Sun Belt team in recent years, either. In fact, no game we've played against Sun Belt teams has even been close. This being said, I don't think losing Scott will hurt ULL either.
Baker, our current DC that ULL has supposedly offered its DC job to, fields defenses that are good against the run, but they struggle to put any pressure on the QB. Good QB's have been able to pick us apart. Another huge problem we've had is that we haven't been able to recruit a single decent linebacker since Baker took over from Manny Diaz.

When they originally hired him I laughed.
So yea they probably did catch a break.

Not sure if heads would explode as the rustonians are spinning this better than pelosi spun her (ahem) healthcare bill. But, from what I am told, during the interview coach Baker sounded quite presidential about leaving Ruston.

The general attitude about Baker in Ruston is that he's average at best. He's had a lot of NFL talent to work with the last few years that have made him look good, especially when we've faced weak competition like ULL.

When he was here as secondary coach, I was not impressed with our pass defense
