I have seen several stories from various outlets saying that the XFL may soon return, being announced at a press conference on January 25th. If that is the case, and assuming they bring back a Birmingham team, do you think this would be good/bad/neither for UAB football going forward? I will be honest, I am not very excited by the idea based on the last attempt at it.
IDK I think it will be good for the stadium and in turn help UAB but it is competition for $$$. I don't think overall it will hurt. They will cater to the Gumps and Aubs. I will go if someone gets me tickets but I wont be spending my income on them. They will need a string corporate sales to survive. That is the one area that they would compete with us IMHO.
There has been recent talk that McMahon has interest in buying the Carolina Panthers. With the nature of his business, his personality, his closeness with Trump, I don't think it can happen. Of course, with the NFL in need of energy...

I would think he and the President would work together to end the NFL. Lol
Wonder why the Panthers are so hot? P. Diddy now Vince wants in.

They're hot because NFL teams don't go up for sale very often, and the Panthers owner has announced he is selling after the season. There will be no shortage of people bidding. It would be the same if any team was up for sale.

What? Most NFL owners are close to Trump. McMahon would fit right in
Yes bring back the XFL. Regardless of whether it’s scripted or not. There’s no passion in the nfl, and I hate that it’s been made political. I don’t even watch when blazers are playing anymore, Howard doesn’t get enough carries and Joe Webb could have been really good had somebody worked with him and they only bring him in during the most f’d up situations. Jj nelson runs a freakin 4.3 and gets the ball thrown over his head most of the time. No lie though, meekmahon’s own wrestling production is less than entertaining nowadays in this dang pg era. Ratings keep falling and falling bc he likes to micromanage so much sh*t.

Many were or thought they were until they figured out they got played by Trump with the whole kneeling thing and suddenly remembered that Trump HATES the NFL from his USFL days when he and the league sued the NFL for inclusion on monopolistic grounds(I think), won , and was awarded $1 when it was determined the USFL failures were due mainly to themselves(led by Trump)...

It was an anti-trust suit, damages were automatically tripled to $3. The check was never cashed.

The USFL had played with moderate success in the spring until Trump insisted they go head to head with the NFL in the fall. With the main networks tied up by the NFL, Tump then sued charging monopoly. The NFL lawyers apparently convinced the jury that Trump's dominant interests were to make millions through his lawsuit rather than through quality competitive football. They upheld his contention of monopoly but then gave him the $1 judgement - tripled to $3 - as a slap in his face.
