This will be her third school in 3 years, the new norm in college sports.

I hate it.
Coach leaves- I'm for the open, immediate transfer rule. Beyond that, not so much.

I agree there, but this transfer portal has gotten out of control.

Spot on.....if you don't want to be a DUKE move on. See ya.

NCAA has just allowed ONE transfer without mandatory sit-out, effective this year. Question is why Hosendove played only one game this season. Did the team shut down or was she injured or what? And did GA State's coach leave?

Shane Mettlen said on Twitter she played all year. It appears the GA State website is not up to date for some reason. No idea on why she transferred, but glad we have another post player for this season. She seems to be able to score and rebound.

RE: WBB Recruiting/Signees
So will she be able to play for the Dukes next year, or will she have to sit out since it is her third school? That seems kind of murky. Or maybe she only played one game for Clemson and is kinda like Claire Neff in that respect, who played none?

Not sure about her transferring from Clemson to Ga State. Looks like she is from Georgia so perhaps the NCAA granted a waiver for her to transfer since she was moving "back home"? Either way, I believe she does qualify for the one time free transfer as that was only recently approved. I expect she will play this year (barring injuries) and have two years of eligibility, if she chooses to use the additional year provided to all students.

Sad to say, Rayne may not exactly encounter a friendly reception when she returns to the AUBC as Towson is not exactly JMU's favorite rival. I've seen that happen other places.

That’s likely. And why wouldn’t it be a normal reaction?

Players (and coaches) who switch teams in the same conference are easy targets for fan disapproval.

RU fans are still pissed Rocco left them for Delaware. JMU didn’t play Maine in FB this year, but I’m sure Maine fans haven’t forgotten their HC left the Black Bears for JMU. Back in Lubbock, Texas Tech MBB fans are frothing at the mouth to let Chris Beard have an earful for jilting them for Texas. Now the transfer portal has tossed everything in the air we’ll see more of this. It’s not good, but it’s now part of college sports.

I think if Rayne had gone to Loyola Marymount or UMBC or Maryland, it would have been a different thing. But TOWSON? Seriously? That's practically treasonous. I won't boo her, but I couldn't vouch for the pep band......

I think people should be careful before they get too aggressive. Sometimes there are reasons for such a change that people are not aware of.

I wish her well, but I hope she loses when playing us.

19-year-old-pep-band me would not have been warm and fuzzy welcome this fall. Good Luck Rayne, except when facing JMU!

RE: WBB Recruiting/Signees
I suspect the knee injury had a LOT to do with Rayne's decision. I mean, the transfer decision happened right after. People probably shouldn't make decisions at times like that, but kids do. "I wanna go home" probably figured into it. Oh well. I hope her replacement is up to it. And we do have Claire Neff, if she can keep out of foul trouble. And Goodman, who showed some real promise inside.

Here is some info on Taylor Hosendove. She looks like a good one. As tall as Rayne but more muscular, good scorer on the inside, good rebounder. Good get, I think. She was SunBelt POW a couple of times.

Nikki Oppenheimer transferring to St Bonnies for her final two years (grad school). Makes sense especially with Matt Lewis moving onto the pro ranks.

Ok- thanks NJ. Though she didn't have the career she hoped for here, she was always smiling and seemed like a good teammate. Wish her well.
