Okay. Mr J was saying that we wouldn't shift gears on kids just because we do well in March, or at least I thought that's what he meant.

From an integrity point of view that is the way to go (and what I would approve of); however, the reverse side of that coin is that if a 5* recruit was suddenly interested in us would we switch to him or would we say no to him in order to maintain ties to the 3* recruit. Kudos to us if we would keep the 3* and tell the 5* to take a hike.

Hope there is real interest. This kid would be a monster in the CAA.

Coach Boatner has started following Covington’s AAU team’s account and the account of National Christian’s assistant coach (who followed back). According to the AAU account the Tribe offered Covington in person after his game.

I don't see how we'll out-recruit Auburn or Houston for Andre.

Just because a kid has received an offer, doesn't mean an offer is still on the table. In fact, for us to get involved this late in the game, makes me think that he and his coach are looking for options. We are probably a long shot regardless.

According to Verbal Commits, Andre picked up his Houston, UTSA, Auburn, and Mississippi St offers all on 6/3/19 with his Loyola Marymount offer coming on 2/21/20. On 6/16/19 Andre took an unofficial visit to Houston.

Kemp is obviously interested given the way he has reached out to accounts related to Andre but it remains to be seen if Andre reciprocates that interest - he hasn’t followed back though he doesn’t follow a lot.

According to Verbal Commits it appears that Miss St is out of scholarships now and Houston has signed a C already with only 1 scholarship left. Auburn has offers out to two 4* C and he is their third choice.

So it looks like his current choices are us, UTSA, and Loyola Marymount. UTSA is a bad team in a conference that isn't any better than the CAA, while Marymount is a bad team in a better conference. Since nothing has happened with UTSA since June, would it stand to reason that it could be down to us and Marymount. So I say W&M. Of course, there is the small matter that we haven't offered him yet.

I'm saying this with no clue to our or his level of interest, but there is a certain degree of gamesmanship in giving out offers this time of year. An offer puts an available kid on peer schools radars. Andre is absolutely high mid major level, yet he has no high mid major east coast offers. Perhaps it's been floated that he wants to stay west. Offering him too soon puts the flag up that he is considering mid major east coast schools and would open the door to any A10, CUSA, or CAA school that needs a 2020 big.

Hofstra picks up a commitment from 6’4 Vukasin Masic of Belgrade, Serbia (Hoosac School in NY). Verbal Commits did not list any other offers.

Highlights:

Adam Finkelstein tweets:
“ Hofstra has landed a commitment from Hoosac (NY) guard Vukasin Masic, who played with the Serbian u18 national team this summer.

Big lead guard who can play on & off the ball. Very experienced with mature floor game. Should be able to step right in for the Pride.”

I know I have some recency bias but his game reminds me some of Nate Darling ... I know he and Kochera both need to get stronger but we need their scoring next year and think they’ll play a good bit early and often.

I think Blair is our 4 and Loewe is our 2 with Thornton probably starting as well with the other two spots wide open depending on who we bring in with the last 2 scholarships (PG and big hopefully and if they’re freshman or grad transfers and how ready they are) and how much Harvey improves.

This is probably better served in a post after the season is over, but I hope Fischer keeps Blair coming off the bench. I don't care if he gets starters minutes, but I think he will be more effective as an energy guy at the under 16 than he would be as a starter.

Jake looks to have athleticism like JP and Chase. Hope he gets that back in his rehab.

Hope it translates to solid defensive too.

Excited to welcome him to the ‘Burg this summer!
