RE: OC on the move?
Top reasons stuff like this happens:

Money
Decision making authority and autonomy
Boss not supporting worker among other workers or overruling decisions
Employee disagrees with direction the boss is going

I'll bet it is one or more of the above.

Interesting announcement and timing. It does leave one scratching one's head. Perhaps there will be more info floating around in Charleston this weekend...

RE: OC on the move?
Sorry to see Kevin Rogers stepping down, by all accounts a great coach and an even better person. However, like many, I felt the Tribe offense and QB Steve Cluley underachieved last season. Many had high expectations that clearly weren't met. Am wondering how much that weighed into the equation.

Most, if not all, unfortunately.

Well, if he was pushed out then that makes two in a row that didn't cut it in JL's eyes.

I think he's referring to Zbig Kepa, though he lasted around 30 years here

OC on the move?
Well, special teams had their share of hiccups last year, and the offense has not been where many expected. If Jimmye is having higher expectations, then I applaud him at this stage. The CAA gauntlet is not backing off, we have the talent, and it's now or never for Jimmye's legacy. Have to believe at this stage in starting spring practice we would not put in someone else's offense, as opposed to, past familiar territory. Will be interesting.

RE: OC on the move?
definitely sounds like there are issues...

hopefully we get a good replacement; obviously there's no way we get someone with a resume that will sniff the resume leaving.

I would hope that if this move was orchestrated, there is aa replacement in the wings.

RE: OC on the move?
Yes. That was what I was referring to.

Maybe JL doesn't want/need an OC and/or QB coach.

Like I said, it's probably an unwritten rule not to discuss "inside" information on the message boards until it is announced by the program. But then it wouldn't be inside info.

There should probably be an unwritten rule for some not to say anything at all, especially if their speculation is out in left field.

I think you took my comments the wrong way, but that happens on message boards. Your information is truly inside, you clearly know something others do not. It has to be inside info, since there has been no announcement out of Laycock Center yet. I don't doubt the accuracy of your statement.

I was having fun with your announcing the announcement though, you got me there.

Your screen name lead people to believe that you are an ex-Tribe wide receiver, what years or decade did you play?

No offense taken. I was only trying to help minimize the speculation, which sometimes can lean towards the bizarre. I'm as perplexed as others why there hasn't been an official announcement. This situation is unique, but it is an amicable departure. Still, a lot of questions remain and I'm sure some answers will be forthcoming, hopefully soon.
In response to your question, I played football and baseball back in the '70s and have tried my best to support both programs ever since.

Quite an accomplishment to compete in two sports. Congrats!

I wouldn't try to read too much into this decision.

34 years coaching at the highest levels, growing family he wants to spend time with is what I am hearing. He is a great person who gave much of his life to developing young men. Congrats to him, I wish him only the best.

RE: OC on the move?
I would expect a quick turnaround with the new OC coming on board within ten days or so. O cannot imagine they will go into spring practice, which begins 3/15, without the new guy on bopard.

I also have my own theory: with the recruitment of a top-level quarterback, perhaps the most publicized in the past 15-20 years, who is already in school, would it be that Jimmye, who used to coach quarterbacks directly no matter the OC and with Rogers retiring, might take him directly under his wing, working, of course, with the new OC.

Should be the most interesting spring practice in some time.

There will be only one offense run by The Tribe and it is the one we have used for 37+ years...the Jimmye Laycock offense. Yes, there have been some tweaks here and there but all in all basically the same .

I did not see the Jimmye Laycock offense (throw to the chains, throw to the chains, throw to the chains) the last 4 years.

I completely agree, the last few years there has been a marked difference in how the offense runs
