I couldn't support that. Not after hosting Miami and Wake, but I do get your point. If neither of those had happened I might agree with you more.
Back to the topic of this thread...this early in CCU's FBS history (knowing the game in Conway will probably be at least 6 years down the road) this is excellent. Especially as a boost to fundraising and expansion. Might be time for GS to do the same but ONLY for the right opponent (Louisville/Oklahoma St) who's on the edge of competing for their conference, not a bottom dweller just for the sake of saying "we're hosting a p5".

Yea but you know why you got Miami and that it'll never happen again under those circumstances so I wouldn't even count that game. Realistically, if you want a P5 at your stadium you WILL do 2 for 1's. And schools like Louisville are only going to have so many openings anyways.
I'm fully aware of how and why we got Miami. They were in a bind and needed a quality opponent. Doug Gillin was shrewd enough to take a likely 2 for 1 offer from them and negotiate it into a 1 for 1. I don't see anyone else's administration doing that with a 5 time national champion.

Louisville wouldn't do a 2-1 with anyone in the SBC. It just doesn't bring anything for them. WKU is instate so that makes sense and the only school that maybe could get Louisville in this conference would be GA State because of location. That is highly unlikely though because they would only do it for recruiting but the ACC has GT in ATL.
They just did a home and home with Marshall, so I don't see why they wouldn't with most SBC teams.

They've also played each other 29 times and it's only like a 2 hour drive.

Myrtle Beach, Statesboro, and Atlanta are all fairly desirable locations to play from a recruiting standpoint. It would appear that Georgia Southern is playing hardball with absolutely no leverage to do so and Georgia State is likely turning down opponents because the type of loss they may take will be more damaging than the interest a big name opponent would generate.

Miami is a private school. They schedule these types of games, i'd imagine, to avoid paying out visiting G5 teams what programs who are subsidized by the state are able to.

There were only a handful of teams that could take UM that day congrats for having them by the short hairs. Had it been SSU on our schedule that day and you had an FBS team, I am sure our AD could have demanded the same having all the leverage like yours did.

This is acceptable, giving up a pay day or home game is asinine.

I'm fairly certain that is the way 2 for 1's almost always go down. Old Dominion has a 2 for 1 with UVA, but is only getting $450K (I think). UVA has been known to be a cheap payday game for FCS teams to go play. I'd like to see what the details are with CCU/Kanasa deal. I'm guessing they're getting about $800K in addition to that one home game in return for going to Kansas for two games.
