We have everytime, we have a very large alumni base in New Orleans. Top 4 highest attended and we are 4-0...I mean what are they thinking inviting us.

14,259 home attendance against rival Arkansas State when bowl eligibility was on the line...

Pick up the mike. The NOLA Bowl does not care whether anyone ever comes to a game in Lafayette. What they DO care about is that the Cajuns have been there 4 times and have never sold less than 20000 tickets through the school plus a minimum of 5000 walkup buyers who are Cajuns fans.

I've got an idea.... lets rename it the Attendance/Participation New Orleans Bowl and make its pick....ULL or APR qualifying team. I'd rather go in the 'rotating bowl pool of orphaned bowls needing to fill a slot' than have the Belt pretend that they have a tie in with the NO Bowl. We don't. 9 of our members have a backup bowl slot behind ULL. USA couldn't have gotten a worse pick. Ark State probably wouldn't have done worse either. Its BS, and the Conference should tell the NO Bowl..ULL goes somewhere else for a while unless they win the conference or you can find another bowl partner. I'm sure there are plenty of bowls who'd like first pick and who would use it fairly.

Its Conference>Bowl Committee in my book. You appear to have the reverse motivation. App should have been in that bowl.

Don't whine in 4 years when USA has an OCS, they play selfish with their new leverage over one of our better bowl destinations to your detriment and you end up in Orlando playing UCF in their stadium after having a better season.

You know, it CAN happen to you too. Don't think that this is permanent.

I am a LOT more certain that there are other Conferences salivating to get access to a bowl in New Orleans than I am that the SBC has any leverage over the Bowl..

And they would still try to put us in a slot anytime they had the chance tobeven without the tie in, nothing is going to stop them from wanting us as long as we keep showing up.

That would be fine. Because they wouldn't be taking one of our bowl slots. But know that you'd be obligated to play in our tie ins unless we overed our bowl eligible teams. Enjoy.

I have to wonder how many of these fine fine folks who are claiming they are doing it for the inequity of the system and to right a wrong... Where TF were you the last few years when we did have more than 1 bowl tie in and NOLA was still taking the Cajuns?

Oh that's right, it's only an inequity when it adversely affects your team.

Or the vote to share bowl revenue immediately after we made a mountain of cash the first year...those schools didn't mind taking the check the next 3 years and they won't deny that check this year either.

Easy there Rev.

You do realize that your closest bowl wont take Texas State? Do you see that as a problem. IIRC, many Texas State fans believe that they didn't bowl a few years back because of geography (there was more to it than that, but you guys had an argument).

Lets recap...
2011. ULL finished 3rd. Got the NO Bowl.
2012. ULL finished 2nd. Got the NO Bowl.
2013. ULL finished tied for 1st. Got the NO Bowl.
2014. ULL finished 2nd. Got the NO Bowl
2015. ULL was not bowl eligible
2016. ULL finished FIFTH. Got the NO Bowl.

By the way, the reason Ark State played in Mobile so many times in a row was because the NO Bowl, who has the first pick for some reason I can't fathom, kept picking NOT Ark State over and over again and then Mobile had no choice but to take them. They weren't terribly unhappy with that, but it wasn't good for the Bowl or stAte.

---

This is a problem. And it has a fix

1) Simply find another bowl partner that will treat our teams equitably. Everyone wins except ULL. We might even find a western bowl partner
2) If we keep the NO Bowl tie in, make it a ULL only bowl slot so we can get another bowl certified that our other teams can play in.
3) Enact rules prohibiting any bowl from taking the same team more than 2 times in a 5 year period.
4) Allow the top 3 teams to pick their bowl slots - in order.

That isn't a fix based on reality, you are living in a dream world with no financial consequence...you would be painting the conference in a corner to lose its ass 2 maybe 3 years in a row...how is that equitable? You want to put the entire conference position in college athletics at stake simply to be fair to the fans so they can "go other places" If the bowl wants you, they treat the players right, you get good matchups and make money that's what is best for everyone.

The current situation is best for ULL. And not for anyone else. Period. It wasn't better for stAte be playing UCF on their home field after they finished higher than you in the standings. It wasn't better for App to play in the same bowl they did last year after winning the conference. I'm not sure it was better for Troy to play in the same stadium twice in the same season after finishing higher than you in the standings.

It isn't...it's order of pick not ranking. Again this will be the 2nd time in 7 years it's even a cusa team... let's hope we fair better than our champion did with their last "lowly team" I don't get where this superior attitude comes from.

Perception is reality. There's no reason for an 11-1 Cajun team to face off vs 6-6 USM or a filler from another conference. I think the matchup is great in NOLA this year. For the most part I think everyone got the matchups they deserve. I think Air Force is likely very unhappy with what they perceive as a weak opponent.

I agree. An 11-1 Cajun team would not be playing in NOLA.

The numbers next to the bowl have nothing to do with rank, its order of locked based on seniority of the bowls. Nola isn't even the highest payout. You gonna play all 5 bowls in New Orleans? Which I would be fine with and I won't apologize or deny playing in New Orleans is best for us but just because it's good for us doesn't mean it's bad for the conference. Send app to mobile, troy to cure and stAte to montgomery, all change of scenery and good matchups... but instead it's easier to spin this theory that we ruined our conferences bowl season.

2011 - NO BOWL #3 All time attendance (42,841)

2014 - NO BOWL #4 attendance (34,014)

With all due respect, you keep looking at the records or order of finish, but my numbers are the only numbers that that the NO BOWL really cares about. Because these are the numbers that will make sure that there is a 2016 NO BOWL and a 2017 NO BOWL.

LOL. Sure you would. Who is going to take you? Independence perhaps? But then again, how are you going to get to 11-1 seeing as you can't beat anyone FBS OOC in the regular season? Here's your record against FBS OOC teams in the regular season in the last 6 years (the period during which you've played in our 'best' bowl FIVE times).

One win, at home, over a 2-10 Tulane dumpster fire
One win over a bad Kent State team.
One win over a bad Akron team.

3-15 overall in regular season OOC FBS games. Fewer wins than ULM. Fewer than App (who has only been FBS for half that period). Fewer than USA. Fewer than Troy. Fewer than Texas State. Same as stAte. Maybe we should rename the NO Bowl the Participation Bowl. Because you certainly aren't doing much for the conference otherwise.

2011 29,171 Bowl 42,841SDSU maybe had 200.
2012 22,865 Bowl 48,828 ECU maybe had 2000
2013 25,976 Bowl 54,738 Tulane was at best 1/4
2014 25,775 Bowl 34,014 Nevada brought nobody

For 2016: 20,224 TBD

So, what exactly is your point?

Oh BTW, the Cajuns are are also playing basketball at UNO at 1pm on 12/17 so plenty of fans will do the double header.

LOL. Sure you would. Who is going to take you? Independence perhaps? But then again, how are you going to get to 11-1 seeing as you can't beat anyone FBS OOC in the regular season? Here's your record against FBS OOC teams in the regular season in the last 5 years.

One win, at home, over a 2-10 Tulane dumpster fire
One win over a bad Kent State team.
One win over a bad Akron team.

3-15 overall in regular season OOC FBS games.

Just admit that you don't like us. I'm totally ok with it.

Wish you well in AZ.

2011. ULL finished 3rd. Got the NO Bowl.
2012. ULL finished 2nd. Got the NO Bowl.
2013. ULL finished tied for 1st. Got the NO Bowl.
2014. ULL finished 2nd. Got the NO Bowl
2015. ULL was not bowl eligible
2016. ULL finished FIFTH. Got the NO Bowl.

Here's your recap.

2011 - NO BOWL #3 All time attendance (42,841)
2012 - NO BOWL #2 attendance (48,828)
2013 - NO BOWL #1 attendance (54,738)
2014 - NO BOWL #4 attendance (34,014)

With all due respect, you keep looking at the records or order of finish, but my numbers are the only numbers that that the NO BOWL really cares about. Because these are the numbers that will make sure that there is a 2016 NO BOWL and a 2017 NO BOWL.

This numbers are with
SDSU
ECU at 11 am
Tulane (obvious jump)
Nevada at 10 am

Out of the 120k from the 3 non Tulane games, visitors brought maybe 10k combined...maybe and that's being generous

Home attendance those same years:
2011 29,171
2012 22,865
2013 25,976
2014 25,775

For 2016: 20,224

I don't have a dog in this fight other than our attendance at last year's NO Bowl was pretty solid, but, what's your point about posting Laffy home game attendance? A lot of their graduates live and work in the New Orleans area.

Yes, I'd say you guys did an admirable job at 32,847. Best of the non-Cajun NOLA Bowls.

What's silly is that it's a South Al and some A-State fans doing all the whining here and neither of them could muster a win this year against you guys.

Jesus guys, don't like seeing Laffy in the New Orleans Bowl? Beat 'em and knock them out of bowl contention. Duh. 03-lmfao

I'd be careful, its a new conference. You can get outvoted now. And this bid of yours is really not justifiable other than as a Participation game.
