What would you do?
If going to the NCAA tournament in men's basketball meant giving up all W&M with feathers logo merch, would you do it?

What would you do?
Is this a serious question? In a heartbeat.

RE: What would you do?
Just popped into my head while I was getting ready for the game today. Results are pretty much as I expected so far, with a few more regulars still yet to vote.

RE: What would you do?
The feathers are gone forever....today's students have never seen or heard of the feathers and haven't for at least six years. To them they will always remember the Griffin.
The feathers have gone the way of the Indians and those who remember the Indians are in a vast minority today.
There's nobody left, I would surmise, whose W&M days would remember the W&M Fighting Virginians,
the highly popular College nickname of the early 20th Century.
Still bouncing around, however, is the nickname, The Big Green, highly used in the 1930s-1960s
era--when our football team sported the all-green uniforms. Jimmye pulls out the all-green (which, in this writer's opinion, are far better and have more impact than the run-of-the-mill green shirts with
Notre Dame gold pants). This year's Flathat writers used the Big Green name several times...as did the Richmond TD in it's coverage of the Richmond game. So The Big Green lives!

The feathers are not a nickname. The feathers are a branding instrument (see top of this page, for example). Clothing looks better with feathers. Flags look better with feathers. Logos look better with feathers. The Griffin has feathers.
Some one is not thinking this through. This is so easy to do.
So, the choice poised by this poll is an achievement by one sport vs. administrative neglect of a branding issue for an entire athletic department, and school.
While I look forward to the achievement, the neglect on this issue just frosts me.

RE: What would you do?
See my thumbnail for the needed transition to re-introducing feathers to our logo. Start with this, then 2 years later, slowly shift back toward the original WMfeather

There's the saltiness I was expecting. The choice put forth by this poll is a comparison of priorities in a fan base. "Administrative neglect" is subjective, and as BigTribe points out, a viewpoint that students in the last 10 years don't identify with.

Chill. Not criticizing the poll question. You were asking where priorities lay. I get it.
What you need to get is that I played baseball at the College wearing a smiling Indian on my hat, and saw the same smiling Indian at center court for the hoops games.
I played on the Reservation for the Indians of the College of William and Mary.
So, I love your third option, and I voted for it, because that is my position.
Simply pointing out that feathers in the logo is more easily achievable than a ticket to the Big Dance because all that has to happen is we say "do it".
And before anyone says the NCAA won't allow it, we simply say they reflect the feathers of the Griffin, or you design a logo with one feather and one tail, further reflective of the Griffin.
Ironically, your poll puts forth two events ... one we have complete control over and one we don't.

It profit a man nothing to give his whole soul / feathers for the whole world ... but for a ticket to a dance?

Yeah I chose keeping the feathers because we're gonna make the big dance anyway.

I'd go to prison for 5 years in exchange for making the dance.

I know a judge that could arrange the first part. He went to W&M, does that count?

No hostility intended here. Subtle distinction, though, that the poll is about tossing all feathers-based merch that you have and will never get again in exchange for a guaranteed trip to the NCAA tournament. No policy decisions or anything that complicated.

Wait I own no feathers merchandise. I'd like to change my vote
